Re: hilux with a patrol rear diff
Iyou arent running lots of power you shouldnt need anything more than a hilux diff. IFS housing and spacers or offset can sort out your width. any rear suspension setup will work well if you put your brain into it, be it coils or leaf. leaves that are too short in the front section of the spring ...

Re: Cooling a V8 lux
Spacing the bonnet only sllows air to escape when going slow. With speed it pressurises the engine bay due to the high pressure zone created at the base of the windscreen. And please search it for an hour or so before you say. No it doesnt or something silly like that. Rear mount fan is the key. And ...

Re: OFFROAD BOSS KING OF THE RIM 2012
Thanks for clearing that up. Makes life a little easier. As far as bracing and cage design etc are you basically looking for something along the lines of ccda requirements? I am sure some people are constructing cages just for this event, and to say '6 point cage well built' is very broad and may ...

Re: OFFROAD BOSS KING OF THE RIM 2012
Quick question, as everyone knows single cab utes are tight for space and ccda allow externals that are built to internal specs. I have read the rules and it does not state an internal is a must, therefore, if we have a 6 (or 8) point external that is properly, professionally made with the correct ...

Re: a capible truck..what does it take
If all you want is a Capable truck that doesnt cost a fortune, you dont have to do much. If you want 33's and wider stance then buy the tyres and get plenty of offset on your rims, similar offset and cheaper. Dont bother with wide track, not yet anyway. As for lift, you dont need more than 3", and i ...

Re: 3rz turbo and v8 hilux's
As opposed to your rear steering? Thats a good effort, i dont have figures to compare, all i can say is that for what i use mine for i prefer the instant power of the 1uz. And i dont need all the power it has. I drive a modified xr6t ute and although i love it, it cant match the instantaneous power ...

Re: 80 series from factory with 1HD -FTE engine
The e on the end is for electronic injection. It was not around till 100 series. The 1hdft is also known as a multivalve. Due to the stickers on the rear quarter that read. Multivalve. Powerful but still with mech injection which some prefer. 3 valves per cylinder. The other turbos have Turbo. On ...

Re: 39x13.5R17 BFG Krawlers on Hilux
There are few people in aus that go past a 37 on a hilux. And even fewer do it with leaf springs. So info is going to be hard to find, imo the best option is to buy them, fit them and see for yourself. Nobody knows your truck like you do so any advice will be nothing more than opinions and ...

Re: 1uzfe into solid axle hilux sump!
Incorrect. I have a celsior engine. They have a front sump, i swapped it for a rear sump off a soarer. As my high steer was not going to fit, i have also cut and reshaped the original lower steel section and pickup to allow clearance for my diff centre.

Sounds about right depending what year model engine you have, gearbox etc. Manual gives a higher number. And the engines make more power after 96 and then again when vvti came in. Happy to say i have one of the better 96 ones. But has never been on the dyno

Re: radius arm vs 3link
I fully understand what you are saying. And you are right. But triangulated with the chassis end closer is the ticket if you are using a standard arm. If you are msking arms it doesnt matter as you just make the arms to work. Has anyone seen what they call a one link? Have a look at the micro zook ...

Re: 60series diffs under a hilux help??
Depending on your spring setup and desired castor and pinion angles you may need to cut and rotate knuckles For the rear just flip the housing around, rotate your brakes and centre so they arent upside down and fix up your diff drain. Front knuckles are same as hilux so you can use hilux high steer ...

I know fully what you are saying, having my hilux and my xr6 turbo. it is really hard to say what diff will or will not be adequate of handling what you throw at it. if set up correctly hilux diffs should handle it. with a 4 cylinder anyway. put a welded 2 pinion rear centre in it behind a 1uz with duals and a heavy right foot and i can have one wrecked in a day ...

you can do either of these, 2 inch body lift, twin transfers using a clocked adaptor and shove the transfers up 5mm from the tunnel and there you have it. alternativeley you could ditch the body lift and raise the trans tunnel. you could also ditch the duals and adaptor but you will need to raise ...

when you invert shocks you do not use any standard mounts, therefore you can and will put them where you want as it is entirely in your hands as to where yu weld the mounts. so then yes you can inboard them, or lay them over as much as you want. and when mounted on the diff not on the spring plate ...

Re: how do you get flex out of a hilux? inverted shocks?
The main reason for the laying over is to fit them under the tray. I am not that great at pythagorizing so I Wong go into it more The thing with what they call inverting the shocks. Is you can move them toward the centre of the diff a little. Or a lot. Meaning that 1 inch of shock travel will equal ...
