Well I am personally done with this thread. I and a few others have raised some issues that should have been thrashed out at the first TTC a few years ago. Definitive answers were not forthcoming on this thread but I have received private correspondence from who I am not at Liberty to disclose, that ...

Contrary to what Sam, Ruff, Wooders etc choose to believe, I am personally not against hardcore offroad motor sport.(read my posts) In fact as a dedicated vehicle modifier I rather like the concept of TTC. I even like what you guys at haultech have done with MogRover and the Defender and as a Rover ...

Sam, In my last post I didn't ask you personally to respond whatsoever. In fact your previous responses have been a bit vague at best and I was rather hoping for a more qualified opinion from someone with a little less emotional attachment to the event and a little more knowledge regarding the legal ...

Sam, Weren't you the appointed scrutineer for Queenland Entrants ?
I would have thought that the organisers of TTC would have given you a thorough explaination of the rules re registration and Eng certs.
I hope for all your sakes and for the future of the sport that nothing tragic happens at TTC ...

Anthony, are both your rear wheels the same offset. I knew a bloke a few years ago that was driven crazy trying to work out why the r/h rear wheel protruded over 1'' more than the left on his Landey He said he took all sorts of measurements and was about to put the truck on a winch rack to bend the ...

Drew, I am assuming the wheelbase will be something like 110'' +37''. so wouldn't you be better off starting with a 110 chassis so that only the chassis section behind the rear spring towers wil need to be altered. It would be pointless to shorten a chassis that has just been extended.

Watts Links on racing cars use Heim joints and give very precise lateral control. However on a road vehicle such as Falcons, Disco 2's etc there are 5 compliant rubber bushings compared to a Panhard rods 2, so lateral location of the axle when cornering may not be as good, although they don't have ...

Land Rover factory Portals ?
I was reading a thread on difflock.com the other day about portal axle conversions ( Volvo's, Mogs etc) and somebody mentioned that LandRover themselves made a whole batch of portal hub conversion kits for their Defender series and then discovered that the market for them was non existant, so they ...

First up I have to admit that I know 75% of bugger all about welding.
I have successfully welded half a toyota shaft to half a landrover shaft by boring out a hollow bar, drilling holes through the side, pressing shafts in and pool welding through the holes with stainless arc rods.
The different ...

I have limped home with a difflock and broken rear axle on a couple of occasions and the truck pulled (almost changed lanes) in one direction under accelleration and the opposite way under deccelleration or while gear changing. Definately not recommended for general driving around.
