I know of a very large Paper Bark Tree they could have used instead of the drum. Deformed my OE steel bar nicely.

Re: 80 series sub tank issues

I have a 93 diesel and the sub and main fuel lines are completely seperate. When the sub button is pressed, the motor is fueled directly from this tank. However I have been told that with the petrol model, the sub feeds into the main tank first. I take it yours is a petrol? Also might be crap that I ...

Re: Early and late 80 front sway bar links

I have a 93 model DX and needed to replace the rear bar and bought a bar from a wrecker from a 96 model. Different link to the chassis (sway bar the same design), although different diameter bar as mine, but my chassis already had the factory mounting points (tack welded nuts inside the chassis ...

Re: best tow vehicle for a 80 series

You have to be careful with using an 80s for a tow vehicle as they are only rated to 2500kg braked towing capacity.
An 80s alone would be close to 2.5T and thats not including trailer weight and other shit that gets thrown on the trailer. (you'll need a proper rated trailer too)
if you do use a ...

Why is it easily noticed?

I had a 105 (same sway bar setup) I removed the brackets, Not just from the sway bar pin, and you would not know anything was missing.

Meaning that it was easily visible if you were travelling in a vehicle behind me and if someone had a clue they could see it wasn't ...

Bent Sway Bar

Hi all. My rear sway bar on my 80 series has taken a large knock and has been bent upwards behind the diff. Looks like its sitting about 100mm higher in the centre.
Quenstion is, can sway bars be straightened, as its already sprung steel (I think). I have already rung around a few local wreckers ...

Don't want to sound like a dill, but would emersing the wire rope into water wash the oil out of the wick? Only asking cause I did soak the cable over night and the water turned very cloudy/white. Hope I haven't stuffed my cable.

Jcclures - love your old rig by the way. Very clean.

Best way to clean a Wire Winch Cable

Had to use my new winch for the first time in anger recovering a couple of vehicles stuck in a tidal/salt grass area. The cable was still reasonable clean after the recovery and I ran the hose over the spool for a while to clean any salt etc off the cable.

What else should I do to try to prevent ...

305/70 and 285/75 have the same diameter, unless you get really picky and go to the 100th degree and then the 285 is .02 inches bigger. In Qld the law states that you can't fit a tyre that is 15mm greater diameter than the largest factory optioned tyre. So yes a 33 inch tyre is illegal as its more ...

Front to rear diff centre swap on a 80 series

Is this possible?
Reason is I'm chasing lockers and air lockers are out of the budjet and Richmond Gears in the USA no longer manufacture 'Powertrax Lockright' lockers for the LSD centre on cruisers (Rang them last week). The front is available (part no 1610), so I'm curious if the open diff centre ...
