LN106 2.8D Electrical Issues
HI Guys, I have a 95' 2.8D LN106 hilux, and she's developed a bizarre electrical fault that I can't work out, so I'm looking for some help, if any of you have encountered something similar? Basically, everything appears fine when I'm just driving around, but as soon as I put some extra load on the e...

Re: hilux 1995 4 cylinder Diesel Multi-point injected 2.8L
The non-turbo goes alright as long as your not in a hurry to get anywhere. This question has been talked about quite a bit on here and basically the general opinions are that they are sluggish especially in comparison to more modern diesels. However I do keep up with traffic in mine reasonably well,...

Re: 2.8d Hilux Overheating Issue
Cheers guys, I guess I should do the fan hub if I have come this far. Samdumbert - No its not losing water, the only time it lost water was before I replaced the radiator cap, it just pissed out through the overflow, but thanks for the heads up. Hanko - Nah no turbo, don't have the funds for it, plu...

Re: 2.8d Hilux Overheating Issue
The good old touch and feel method... The fan and hub were off when the timing belt was done and the mechanic checked it out and it doesn't seem to be leaking and it feels alright when trying to spin it on the shaft. It also made sense in my head that at that speed the radiator really should have en...

2.8d Hilux Overheating Issue
Hey guys, So I have been having some overheating problems with my lux. It started overheating on the freeway going up hills, around town it fine, but big hills at high speed seem to be a problem. So I started working my way through the possible problems as I saw it, I ruled out the radiator itself b...

Re: bad fuel consumption on my 2.8 hilux
HTH, Diesel engines are compression ignition so they should just about always start even if the glow plugs aren't working. The glow plugs just make it easier by preheating the air before the engine cranks over for the first time. My 2.8 had dud glow plugs when I got it but I didn't even really notic...

Just a word of warning if you do replace the 80Amp fuse you might want to check your glow plugs first. I replaced the fuse in my 2.8 hilux the other weekend, ended up costing me 4 new glow plugs, a new relay and a new wiring loom because two glow plugs shorted out which melted the wiring loom and bu...

Ok fair point, but on that track that would mean going up a rock climb that my car and I are currently incapable of, yea I'm a noob. Yes I could just not drive that track, but the point is you do find yourself in these situations so I thought I'd ask to see if anyone has a way of increasing the reli...

Alternators and mud DO NOT mix!
Hey guys, Could be a little stupid but I was up at Wattigan State Forest on the long weekend and my hilux got stuck in a mud hole, we got her out easy enough but the alternator was completely submerged and stopped working afterwards. Have any of you experienced this and is there anything that can be...
