Re: Fuel Issue?

Check the water pipes going to the auto choke housing are not blocked internally, this often happens. Also the wax pellet in the choke wears and you have to adjust it (if there is any adjustment left!!) Make sure you have a thermostat fitted, so that the a/choke comes off fully. Also next time the r...

Anyone fitted A pyro probe on a Terrano II

Hi, I have just bought myself a Terrano II 2.7 TDI and want to bump up the boost a tad. Before I do this I want to fit a boost and EGT gauges to know what the temps and boost are running now. Had a quick look but there doesnt seem to be much room on the manifold before the turbo to fit the pyro prob...

Re: Ideas on a bad miss...

Clamp the fuel return line at the fuel rail and see if the miss goes away. If it does (or improves it a little) the injectors would need cleaning. Might want to pull them out and get them cleaned anyway. Also did you change the seals where the injector goes in the manifold? It could be leaking air t...

Re: sierra fuel issue

Check to see if the carby "pump jet" is squirting fuel as soon as you press the accelerator. If it isnt then the carby would need a reco,(or maybe the pump passage can be cleared ). If it is squirting fuel, check the ignition that you have good spark, and also do a compression test.. If yo...

1st thing to check is the auto choke, make sure it has power going to it and the choke unit is getting hot. If it has power to it the choke unit might be faulty and will need replacing. Or you can just wire it open, but make sure the fast idle cam isnt sticking as well. Check the secondary throttle ...

As Scuba has suggested, get rid of the 350 holley and stick a 34ADM weber off a XE/XF ford on it. If you are going to LP gas it, make sure you fit a solid type float into the carby (be it the weber or holley) as a backfire, which can happen on LPG will crush the float and it will flood when running ...

I would be checking the relays to see if water has got to them and also fitting a battery isolating switch.

Seen a couple of badly burned hands as people grab the battery leads and try and yank them off while they are hot.

Never seen a carby version myself, but i will have a guess at it. First thing is to check the timing and make sure it is advancing. Check to see if the pump plunger (might be a diaphram) is is working correctly- pumping fuel down the throat of the carby as soon as you press the throttle. If not that...

When I overhaul the Patrol carbys I always pull the secondary throttle shaft out and give it a good clean as the carbon mixed with the teflon coated shaft causes it to stick. this is generally worse on LPG cars. If it is a manual the primary throttle shaft might need bushing as well. Auto ones have ...

Navara, blown engine, whats it worth?

A mate sent me their 98/99 model Navara 4x4 to me to find out why it was running rough. I removed and stripped the motor down to find it has grabbed piston 2 and 3 pretty badly. I dare say it would need sleeving in those 2 cylinders. It is a QD32 diesel engine. The options are to fix it, find a dece...

The oil seal is gone in the fuel pump. Like others have said buy a genuine one, and make sure IT IS genuine Suzuki. I know some other makes have been selling non- gen as their own and alot of pumps being sold have way too much fuel pressure causing the carby to flood. Give your spare parts shop a ca...

Check the secondary throttle shaft is not sticking open, even a few thou will cause it to draw fuel in, clean the shaft with carby clean and also make sure the secondary diaphragm hold vacuum. Also check the vent valve diaphragm is working. It is a Vitara with the plastic body? If so.. To check this...
