Re: help with 40 series power steering

it feels pretty smooth can't feel any binding its moving freely so for now i'm going to go with this setup and see how it goes.

Re: help with 40 series power steering

Hey guys thanks for the info.

I'd have to pull the column out and compare with my original column, from memory it was shorter so i guess it might have been out of a 40 with factory power steering so its a bit shorter than the strong arm column.

I'm going to hit it again this afternoon and see how ...

Re: help with 40 series power steering

it seemed to move left and right OK. i need to bring the steering box closer a little more but i need to grind off some more shock mount to do that.

not sure what the intermediate is out of.

i'll keep grinding and re-test to be sure.

just wanted to make sure before i kept going. i wasn't sure if ...

help with 40 series power steering

Bit of back story first, i purchased a front end axle, arms, box, column etc from another 40 that had been converted. Now i'm attempting to fit these to my 40.

I've started trimming the shock mount and put it roughly in place, haven't drilled the chassis yet. It was my understanding that i had a 55 ...

Re: Opinions on an alloy radiator in a ln106 2.8

i'm running a alloy in my fj40 (v8 cleveland) and its a cheap piece of crap off ebay. I've had alot of heating problems and took the radiator into natrad to flush out and they said they at the time it was rubbish material that had been used. that had to weld up some of it and said they had alot of ...

shocks and lift

hello,

i've just put new EFS springs in the front and i'm looking at shocks to put at the moment. I currently have ironman 12635GR shocks which are stuffed. Compressed 307mm Extended 485mm.

I'm looking at the the Bilstein 5100's Compressed 304mm Extended 470mm.

The ironman's look like they fit ...

Spoke to Mick @ superior, they don't make one they use to but it was pretty useless so they stopped making them. He doesn't recommend the http://www.tsmmfg.com/4066.htm for the same reason, they struggled to hold a hilux.

He said maybe look into trailer setups?

He also said Eureka off road were ...

I'm liking the look of the http://www.tsmmfg.com/4066.htm

I'm in the same boat at the moment, FJ40 with a 60 series gearbox.

I would prefer not to order the kit from America but it does seem like a good option at the moment.

do you have any pics of the plate and holes before you mounted the box and the chassis work?

i'll probably just notch it out, in the pics above have you put a plate on the other side of the steering box (can't really tell in the pic)?

How'd you go making the holes? just lined it up and did a best guess?

Hard to drill through?

Swapping a whole 75 axle will get you the handbrake on the axle, but then you have to mess with handbrake cabling..
How hard is swapping out for the 75 axle? i don't have a handbrake at the moment so this might be an option for me.
