I had a twin turbo 1ggte straight 6cyl in a hilux running a suck though straight gas system, used impco mixers and ran a boost line to the convertor to even out the supply pressure/boost pressure. I have had the same thing happen with our 80 series, was sitting ina drive thru at a take away shop and it smoked like crazy when taking off. Ours has about 300,000 klms on it with the last 30,000 being on gas. I've also got a valve lube system on it & thought it may have just sucked a heap of that ...

It really boils down to a personal choice of what you'd be HAPPY with :) I've had a few hiluxs powered by v6's a v8 & a twin turbo 1ggte toyota 6 plus a 1jz version as well.
