I've also got a 85 county v8 and there is heaps of room behined the engine (at least 200 mm) I don't know if the Holden v8 is any longer but my rover v8 is a tight fit at the front with the thermo fans fitted,but the dizzy at the back should not be an issue.

I do not know if the disco and rangie radiators are the same but the EL thermo fans fit the rangie easily. I just cut two slots in the bottom of the cowling so that it would slide down lower and trimmed a bit off the top. On the county the EL fans required a bit more chopping up. I also have some AU ...

Where there is a chance the filter may get wet a foam filter is best, but for keeping dust out paper is hard to beat.
