The oil gauge is not linear unlike an aftermarket unit.
In my 75 Ute with a 2H and DTS turbo the oil pressure(when hot) was showing near zero on the gauge at idle, before and after engine rebuild. The real measured pressure was still excellent though, more than 15PSI at idle(from memory) which was ...

Can't you just change your diff ratio's?.
Probably the quickest and cheapest considering the 1UZ intake system in already designed for maximum torque down low not top end power. All those mods mentioned will release (much) more power up top that's all. A nice whipple supercharger(or Eaton *shudder ...

If you replaced the head gasket because you blew the old one then having water in the sump is not uncommon. Have you checked the head for cracks too. The head is normally what goes not the gasket. The coolant in the head will come through the crack and will leak past the pistons eventually and into ...

I've found it easy by having all injector nuts cracked at the same time. Do this first. Bleed the main filter and use a small plastic tube on the bleed screw as to not let air back in. When all the bubbles are out, close the small valve, and close up the primer pump. The leak problem is very common ...

2H stuff up. I've put the crankshaft timing gear backwards.
What a stuff up I made today whilst rebuilding a mates 2H in my garage.
I've inadvertently put/smacked the crankshaft timing gear on backwards. Being helical gears the teeth setup will be now half a tooth out so I can't leave it as is.
What is worse, is that I can't use my harmonic balancer kit to ...

There is no flyhwheel in an Automatic car. Well not in the same sense as a manual vehicle's flywheel. All there is, is a thin plate called the flex plate that holds the ring gear for the starter motor. The torque converter does the job similar to that of the flywheel, to smooth the engine vibrations ...

Re: Automatic 1KZ-T engine onto a manual gearbox
I want to fit a 1KZ-T engine into my bundy. There's a 1kZ-T engine available that comes with a automatic box. I want to mate it onto my R151 gearbox. Do I need a bigger flywheel? Any conversion kits available for this?

Re: NEW 2005 HILUX T/Diesel Automatic
Why did Toyota stick with the 4 speed box and not put the 5 speed Auto in that they use in the petrol V6 ?
Thanks in Advance.
Most likely cost cutting but maybe with such a large torque spread from the engine the extra cog may of only had a negligible performance benefit, if any.
Hopefully ...

Re: HJ75 front diff into a HZJ75 ute
Has anybody done this before?
I understand that the HJ had the same front diff as the rear, but the HZJ had the smaller hilux item. Is it worth swapping to get the larger front diff?
Are the knuckles/hubs/brakes/CV's the same? Are there any other complications with the swap?

I have an A343F(from a 2.4L Surf) with a chain driven transfer sitting on my garage floor. As far as I know, both the auto and manual Surf's have a chain driven transfer box, well my 3 litre manual Surf certainly did. Pretty sure they are the same unit, VF1A? with the RF1A being the gear driven unit ...
