Re: Bought my first zuk a 2001 GV 2.5L V6 AT, need advice
i have seen a few on the net running 31's but that would take a bit of mods to the wheel arches.... and that would not make 5th gear great for anything other then flat highways.
i run silverstones at's - BF's make a few that would fit that are mt's.
I have seen quite a few around that run 225 75 r ...

Re: Bought my first zuk a 2001 GV 2.5L V6 AT, need advice
Hi mate.. i have a 99 Gv that has 4" lift - 2" suspension & 2" Body Lift. I run 245/70 r16's.
I know that there are a few GV's running bigger tyres but i feel for the little gain offroad its not worth the hassel - my rear tyres slightly rub on the wheel arch plastics and fronts rub on the chassis ...

start simple... check the switch on the auto that only lets the car start in P or N, it sounds very much like that kind of thing.

Re: biggest tyre for XL7
I run 245/70 R16's on my GV and they rub on full lock on the chassis and the rears rub on the mud flaps when compressed.
Just remember the bigger you go the more it will affect the gearing... mine is ok a bit doie in 5th gear up hills but other then that ok.

Tie it off... that would never work, if the fan cut in it would be all over, rope or wire flyin everywhere.

I got my GV for the same reasons... it was a one owner that had never been offroad, i have since done a few mods like lift and bigger tyres.
I have found it hard to find a winch bar but you can get most other bits. You might need to import them from the usa but that can be cheaper then buy similar ...

Re: new sierra/jimny advice
I think different to the boys above... i would get a 2" Old Man Emu Suspension Lift and some slightly larger tyres and that would do for sand ... thats what my old jimny had and it was a great little 4x4, on many occasions out doing patrols with 35''s and hi lux's.

Re: Coil spacers for XL-7
To fit them... the back is easy just undo the shocks and drop the diff down, watch the brake lines and stuff when you do it and you may find it easier to use a spring compressor to get them back in.
The front is a complete different thing... IFS... you need to use a spring compressor and from ...

Re: Coil spacers for XL-7
I run a 30mm coil spacer on my GV with OME springs and its fine... you just need to check that you will have enough shock length.
I just put a bit of adhesive on top just in case.
Let me know if you need anything further.

Re: manual hubs or auto locking hubs???
I had a 99 Jimny previous to my GV and had some trouble with the hubs locking in when i first got it... after some fault finding found it to be just some crap in the vacume lines... my advice will be to check all the lines as a starting point for blockages (you may need to get a hand vacume pump to ...

Re: Starting Vitara Mods this weekend, Advice on hubs please
I have a Grand Vitara and the front diff from factory turns full time. I imported ARB free wheeling hubs from the usa but my understanding is that older suzuki free wheeling hubs will fit and work ok.

I would agree with gwagensteve... I had a jimny previous to my GV and it was a great 4wd... Mine only had a 2" lift and was very capable but it was limited to tyre size, when i looked at the mods needed to fit bigger tyres and strenghting the front control arms (as i bent a few) i made the decision ...
