Re: Loss of power, and missing, diesel engine.
Yes, MAF is just after the air cleaner. Seems like the issue may have been the cracked intercooler. I did a bodgy with some 2 part epoxy plastic weld last night, right around both ends of where the core meets the tanks, and this morning, all seems well. BUT, I haven't tried it really hard, but in ...

Re: Loss of power, and missing, diesel engine.
What about a split intercooler? Its already been replaced once, because it had split at one tank end, where the core meets the "tank". Just pulled and cleaned the MAF, and running it, I could feel pressure from around the intercooler. Pulled it, to find splits around both ends of the cores. Looks ...

Loss of power, and missing, diesel engine.
At first I thought it was my imagination. I have done about 4000km over the last 10 days or so, towing trailers, moving house. Anyhow, my diesel seems down on power, struggling, and has developed a miss when under moderate acceleration. Motor has 330000km on the clock, and in the time I have had it ...

LED load resistors for indicators.
Got me stuffed. Trying to help a mate out to fit LED lights to the rear of his ute. Got LED resistors for the indicators, but I have heard of 3 different ways of wiring them up. I have LED indicators in my rear bar, and wired the resistors up in series in the power wire to the indicators- 1 resistor ...

I forgot to mention. The offending bearing PN is NSK 35BD219DUM1. The replacement supplied to me is FBJ 83A694CS30.

Re: GU ZD30 A/C compressor noise
Here is the step by step guide. Remember, this MAY NOT be a genuine compressor as fitted new, as this compressor has been fitted as a replacement to the original. But I would expect the procedure is pretty much the same. Tools required, socket set with 10 and 12mm sockets circlip pliers, Hammer ...

Re: GU ZD30 A/C compressor noise
Nope, no need to degas the system, or move the compressor from its mounts. About the only specialist tool required is a pair of circlip pliers.

GU ZD30 A/C compressor noise
So, about 3 years ago, a horrible grinding noise was coming from the engine bay. It turned out to be the AC compressor, which I got replaced on my lease. Cost was over $1000 for the new compressor, regassing, and fitting. After coming back from our trip over the Simpson a couple of months ago, over ...

There is an awful lot of trucks in Central Qld running 7 inch LED headlights, much like the pic above of the spotlight. Fairly impressive light output.

Re: Browndavis fuel tanks
Job done, although it appears to be a tank built to suit a body lift. So, I have got around this by putting a piece of galvanised 50x50x3mm box section between chassis mounts and tank mounts, with the high tensile mounting bolts suitably longer. It doesn't hang too low- and this is more for a tourer ...

Re: Browndavis fuel tanks
Now that I am off my phone, I can type for real. Trying to identify a fuel tank I bought. I was told it was for a GQ/GU, rear main long range tank. The 3 mounting hole spacing front and rear measure correctly. The BrownDavis website lists the same tank for both vehicles, where as the Long Ranger ...

And now to drag up an older post. Are the Long Ranger main tanks for the GQ and the GU the same? They are different part numbers, according to the Long Ranger website, but the same capacity. More importantly, will a GQ tank go into a GU?

Re: Pics of how you ran power up to roof rack and what you u
I have just put an ARB roof rack on the Patrol. I bought it with light mounts, so am thinking about moving my light bar from the top of my bulbar up to the rack. I am thinking about running the power up the A pillar gutter, behind my snorkel, then to the rack and bar.

I recently upgraded my frontal lighting, ditching the 2 100 watt halogen Roolites, in favour of 2 Great Whites 75 watt round LED spot lights. These are in addition to the 44 inch light bar, and 2 HID Cibie Super Oscars. I am now pretty happy with my frontal lighting. And it gets used almost every ...

The LED light looks OK, and is very good value. Be warned that I bought a LED light bar from an Ebay seller and it said that it was a combination flood/spot light. ARB roof rack on GU wagon owners
OK, I need a couple of measurements from an ARB half roof rack, specifically a 3800030 Deluxe steel 1100mm x 1250mm rack. I need the lengthwise measurement centre to centre of the flat mounting plates that the rack itself bolts to. I want to know how far, front to back, the 2 flat plates are apart ...

Re: Tyres for a rocky
30s on 7s will fit without any issues. 31s may rub just a little on your leaf springs at the front at full lock. Be aware, that fuel usage will increase with the larger tyres. Yes, even with 31s over 30s. I ran BFG ATs, in 30s, and had no dramas. When going out to play, I would change to my Simex ...

Standard rear main tank is 90 litres. Long range tanks are usually 145 litres. They are built to closer tolerances around the chassis/diff, ect. Re: side awning hanging past the windscreen
It really does depend on what type of driving your intending to do. Touring, its not a problem. Mine probably protrudes a 1/2 metre in front of the windscreen. But I take my awning and roof top camper off between trips. If your worried, although it might not be legal, would be to run a scrub wire ...

It wont be as effective, sure, but with no frontal protection on the Commodore, and in no way am I going to blank out the centre section of the LED bar, as per QLD DOTs stupid regulations, but anything extra shining out the front has to be a bonus.
