Yup.. the double clutching didn't really help but the reving does.

Thought it would be a cheap fix like changing gear box oil or something. Looks like I will have to live with it till it's time to change the clutches and do up the syncromesh at the same time.

I am facing some problems changing the gear down. In my case, its difficult if not almost impossible to change down to 2nd and 1st gear from 3rd upwards unless the speed has been sufficiently reduced. Any ideas anyone?

Rang up Nissan and apparently the 1999 TD42T uses 2 different oil filters. Was wondering if anyone might know the part number for each of the Oil filters and which one is placed forward (nearer to bull bar) and which is back.

Nissan wants to sell them for $26 and $41.70 respectively.....

I have recently been in contact with the Laboratory Manager of FUCHS oil and he has recommended using FUCHS Titan Truck 15W40 as it meets the 3000ppm of calcium detergent requirement. Following is the email from him:

Sold my 1991 GQ TI 4.2 diesel for $10,000 a month ago..... it had 320000K on the clock. It was a 7 seater with full electrics, bullbar, tow bar, UHF, CD player, 5 Motorway MT (85%) on 16" rims and another set of 5 Wrangler A/T (10%) on 15" rims...... It was a good buy for the new owner i must say ...
