There are quite a few systems out there on the market, I reckon it all comes down to how much yer got in the pocket to spend. I use a Rotronics system, fully automatic.....set and forget. Had it in the Mav for 8 years now and has never failed. Charges main battery at start-up--switches to auxillary ...

Al is simple if you take a good look at it. Diffs - drain at bottom and fill thru the filler plug. G/Box - same deal exit plug at side of the box and filler same side halfway up Transfer - same - drain bottom - filler plug opposite side half up In all cases fill until the oil come out the filler ...

I made one from a piece of 4" stainless tube, welded in some ends & a 25mm bsp toe nipple for filler (the original cap fits perfect). Then a bit of stainless angle to bolt to the inner guard. The second battery still fits and it will never crack or melt.
If anyone wants pics just drop me a line.

Yer! I would get it turboed only I havn`t got the $$$$ for it. As some have said I know extractors wont make it go rocket style, but it will hold rev range better on hills. This is where it would count for me, and yep I know a turbo would do it better.
Thanks for the ifo people.

Extractors - 4.2 Diesel

Hoping anyone could give me a lead as to brands of extractors that would fit onto my '92 Maverick 4.2 diesel. What size exhaust system would be OK to use with extractors...........I was thinking 2-1/2" and a flow thru muffler. Any info back would be absolutly helpful. :?:

Gregory's No512 Manual only covers GQ 4.2 Diesel 88 to 97. This is no good for GU 4.2 Diesel. GQ indirect injection - GU direct injection and a shit load of electronics.
They are similar but not the same!!!!

Ah! Now that brings another question. How do you tell if you have a series I or a series II. My Mav is a November 92 model.
As for oil use I checked a site at Nissan and they have recomended the use of ATF in transfer cases across all GQ models.
Thankyou for the info on the seal. ;)

I had that thought and if that be the case "Is there a seal between them that could be a problem?" When I first changed the oil 5000k ago it was a dark colour then and I think it was oil the same as the gearbox. I changed to Dexron II because I seen it mentioned on this site. Perhaps it could also ...

Transfer Case Oil

If anyone could tell me some info on transfer case oil for a TD42 Mav. I put new oil (Dexron II) in about 5000k ago and decided to check it. Instead of a red colour it was dark and blackish. Is this normal? Should I be using something else besides Dexron II? Does the gearbox oil flow into the ...
