Sounds like i might need to explain to the mechanic where the wheels are lol.

but i will have a look at the fuses then source some rotors and pads and change them see if it makes the lights go away.
I hope it isnt the modulator as i just spent 3k changing the clutch ...

I have recently had my clutch and flywheel changed on my disco 2 td5 by a rover "specialist"
he claims to be a specialist but has never done a clutch on a rover before as he says they are quite rare... then when i get my car back he proceeds to tell me that he put the clutch in backwards and had to ...

he is saying that the $900 clutch is a genuine LR clutch, he can get an aftermarket one for about $600 but he doesnt want to know me after he puts it in and it breaks.

Well its official the clutch bearing has gone on me and i need to get a new one for the td5 99 model landy.
can anyone tell me where i can source a cheap one from sydney?
some guy quoted me $900 for the new clutch and 600 labor.
i told him to shove it.

hey guys i just had an NRMA inspection done on this.
the guy didnt sound too convinced on it.
he called me but i missed his call and when i called him back he couldnt talk much but he said that these had a lot of inherited problems...
can someone shed some light on this?

wow thanks heaps for all that info guys, im going to spend some time reading up on everything. last time i was duped into buying the patrol, only when i traded it in did i find out it had been ridden off in the past as it was drowned.

anyway i dont think it has self leveling airbag suspension on ...

im mainly after a car i can take off the road, nothing comp style or antying like that. just good challenging tracks, dirt, mud, sand, etc.
i dont want it for extreme modding or anything like that i just want to take the missus 4wding to stockton a few times and maybe round leura, nowra etc ...

steering damper.

I just got a 2nd hand steering damper for my 2.8 td gu patrol. the damn thing is pin to eye and the one on the car is pin to pin. is there any way to fit this thing on? are the any converters or anything like that to make it fit?

any ideas would help....no im not gonna sell it and buy one that ...

well its been confirmed, got a crack over the number 6 piston, leaking water into the exhaust, starter motor is all rusted out, now they are taking the head off to find out where the crack is...

is it worth fixing? how reliable would a weld on the head be?

i wouldnt mind spending 5-8k on a 4.2td conversion, im not happy with the 2.8 and ill probably end up taking a loan to pay for all of the repairs.

if its only going to cost about 5-8k to have a conversion, i may end up doing it.

Im taking her to the mechanics on tuesday to have it all checked ...

hmmm if it does turn out to be a cracked head, would it be better to get a 4.2td fitted?

that was in the plans, but not for some years to come.
would it be better to fit one in now? or sell it and buy a 4.2? or just repair the head and what ever else is wrong with it?

i thought of that, but ive filled up the radiator so many times, i must of put in about 20 liters of water, shouldnt the engine not even start with that amount of water in it?

Firstly, i try to crank it every morning and it turns over once and i hear a loud "clunk" and it stops turning over.

Im looking for a GPS to tell me which street to turn down, and can also be upgraded cheaply with the tracks i go to.
i want it to remember that what i just went through was a track and keep it listed as a 4x4 track.

also maybe a map upgrade with most 4x4 tracks around sydney etc.

good effor tho brownie, lucky there wasnt much damage. i had to rip the seats out and carpets and wash them by hand

i have a 2.8TD.
gutless it is indeed. has a dead spot right at the start of the rev range, so it takes a bit to get going.
im having engine problems now and its only got 84K on it.
thinking i may put in a 4.2 in it, but the ball and chain (the wife) wont allow it.
i would probably buy a 4.2td if ...
