Penrite HPR is what I use in my 2H. I used to use 15/40 but up here with the temps in summer its way too thin & after a long run the oil light would come on at idle. I plastigauged all the mains and bigends & they were well within tolerance (but I replaced them all anyway). I started using Penrite ...

Although just stop & think a minute I reckon 680kg of pull is better than say two blokes behind a Cruiser pushing. Supercheap's market is aimed at a few different groups & one of those groups is one that can't afford to walk into a store & spend thousands on a ubeaut winch that'd pull the Queen Mary ...

I've had a couple of 235 MTR's in the shed for a year & a half I got em with the old HJ47 ute I've got. I've had some real cheap Indian 12 ply rag tyres on the HJ since I got it & when they wore out I bought a couple more MTR's & put them on with the others I already had.

I use Penrite HPR (20-60). I used to get the oil warning light coming on at idle after a long run in 40 degree plus temps when I used a 15-40, it doesn't happen now with the 20-60.

When I bought the clutch for my FJ I remember there was a bit of ongoing debate with the bloke at Autopro as to which clutch would have the heavier pressure plate, the diesel or the petrol? I think we agreed it would be the petrol (I don't really recall why, or if the Daikin I finally bought was for ...

When I replaced the clutch in my fj45 with the 2H in it I had no idea if the stuff behind the engine belonged to the original petrol or the replacement deisel engine, from memory the clutches for both are interchangeable so I cannot see why one would be double the price of the other I am pretty sure ...

I just recently changed the clutch in my FJ45 with has a 2H transplant, its was no easy job, particularly since all the bolt holes in the aluminium bellhousing were all stripped & elongated. I got a Daikin clutch (nothing flash) for $250. It'd be a good idea to make some kind off cradle to fit on a ...

Dim instrument lights
I've got a 1982 40 series. The instrument cluster lights are so dim that I can hardly see the instruments. All the bulbs are OK, they are those little ones in the black plastic holders that go into the circuit board at the back of the cluster. Is there anyway I can get more light

The bloke next door to me has got a Navarra around the vintage of the one your looking at, they seem to handle well on loose dirt roads at speed, just like a car. Probably a bit mundane but if someone knows it'll save me a few headaches. With a HJ47 conventional steering box does the sector shaft have to be removed to change its oil seal

I put that Nulon stuff in the gearbox & diffs of the Cruiser, it doesn't say it on the tube but the PFT or whatever it states is in it is in fact Teflon, they must have to use its chemical name cause DuPont probably owns the trademark. This isn't the big city, I live over 900k's from the nearest major city (T'ville) & there is just not the big 4wd specialist shops everywhere like there is in the south, nor are there any vehicle wreckers here to speak of as that group of people that like mucking around with earlier model vehicles ...

Air filters, what types?
I've got a FJ45 that's now got a 2H in it that is in pretty good condition, but I've been getting a bit worried about how well the standard under the bonnet air filter is keeping out the dust which is something we've got plenty of in far north western Queensland. I started thinking about getting ...

Its Ok to leave the hubs locked as long as when your on hard non slip surfaces the thing is not in 4wd. The only reason you would unlock the hubs is to save unnecessary wear on seals and so on when not in 4wd & also to save on fuel by not having the diff spinning. If you drive for anymore than about ...

It cost $250 for the Daikin clutch, $45 for the master cylinder, $24 for the slave cylinder. It would have cost more because the bell housing was stuffed as all the bolt holes were stripped and elongated but I made up plates with high tensile nuts welded to them that fitted inside the bellhousing. I ...
