Re: converting pto winch to electric
well what kind of dollars are you looking at for a high mount and said modifications. as for dollars spent on modifying this the only real outlay would be motor and rope as i can do all the fab work. on a side note how often do you see the drive gear fail. just want to get it completly sussed out ...

Re: converting pto winch to electric
started to tear the winch down to see if its even worth trying so far so good needs a good lube but looks to be in good condition. will see if i can get some needle roller bearings to replace the bushes and the gear ratio in the winch is 50:1 (or close to) seeing as the warn high mount is 134:1 i ...

Re: converting pto winch to electric
the input into the winch and the pto shaft is connected together via a double chain coupling i was going to mount an electric motor above the input shaft and with a sprocket on the motor chain drive to the input shaft of the winch. this way i can alter gear ratios easily. note im only a second year ...

Re: Tail lights
i do believe tailights have to have a reflecter in them to be adr approved. while i doubt it would cause any real issues with police unless someone ran up your arse and they can pin it down to the fact that there was no reflector. the only other time that you could really have issues is with ...

Re: Fitting heads - Petrol
it would be worth checking out a workshop manual for the correct timing marks as even though most engines are timed on tdc no1 its not a definite for all engines. an easy way to check is line all the timing marks up then (with the belt on) turn the crank twice if timed correctly all marks should ...

Re: how do you get flex out of a hilux? inverted shocks?
[quote="bad_religion_au"] can i add a couple i've learnt - flex is pretty overrated as the ground pressure on one tire at full flex is very small - flex is useless if it's uncontrolled - hardly anyone gets front and rear leaf spring setups working properly together. that is, they tend to get the ...

Re: how do you get flex out of a hilux? inverted shocks?
keeping in mind that if you move the shockies in-board on the diff they will be less efficient. what are you aiming to build the lux into a really flexy 4b can be a PITA to drive round town and i dont know about where you are but here in bundy the cops dont appreciate body roll around roundabouts :D ...

if using new head bolts and done to spec its very unlikely to snap. i have used old head bolts before on a 250 x flow but it isnt recomended on a side note it may sound obvious but make sure the socket your using is on the head of the bolt properly its very easy to start swinging on a big bar and ...
