The gearbox failed at 63k, it has 70k on it now. Last week It wouldnt select low range and it took a while for the diff lock (factory) to release.

really good thread about that on patrol4x4 where oldmav actually measured the harmonics and the effects different weight crank had. it not the torsional load so much as it is the harmonics I believe and removing a bit of weight out of the clutch brings that harmonic point down further into the ...

How about captivating the coils at each end, ie bolting them to the spring mounts.
