i had problem like that once before in my old car. it starts to misfire under load. for it was because water got into the plug recess so all i had to do is use the compressed air and blow out all the water or just use a rag and soak up the water.

I got one of those hayman reese adjustable hitch for my falcon ute. my problem was actually for been too low. so I reversed it to raise the tow ball. its got cam adjustment on it too so you can make sure the towball sits level. The hitch is actually design for their weight distributing system.
