Re: Bolt on turbo upgrdae - 13BT/12HT/1HDT and 1HDFT

That's called gearing and torque multiplication.... Oh and having sticky 40" tyres You might doubt gturbo, but just chat to him, he'll give you the time of day. You'll also see his genuine passion, he gets very excited about the work he does. He finally tuned mine the other day, had the turbo for 9 ...

Re: Basic Maintainence you should do after a trip/comp/wheel

Would only go that far if you are driving an old beat up bunky with questionable parts.

A car with good quality equip should just need a thorough wash down / degrease and then during servicing inspect the above.

On paper the differences in power are minimal, in the real world its chalk and cheese

Hardware wise they again are different kettles of fish

Not worth the premium to those that can't afford them, definitely worth the premium for those that can.

Keep looking, its a pov pack 1HZ, nothing to write home about. It's got a basic bar, small wheels and suspension height looks pretty standard. There was an EOI for a highly modified petrol gxl with similar mms, 96 model, 37s, lift, bar work, diff gears, lockers, crawler gears etc for 12.5k 1HZ is ...

Re: Bolt on turbo upgrdae - 13BT/12HT/1HDT and 1HDFT

I question that last video about how clean the exhaust was. Seems like there was a HUGE puff of smoke when chaning gear or giving it a slight tap on the throttle and then the revs climbed very slowly, so ofcourse its not going to puff if you don't kick it in the guts. Take a movie of it being worked ...

Re: Bolt on turbo upgrdae - 13BT/12HT/1HDT and 1HDFT

Even at over 3 tonnes, the old 1H-FT if tuned right, especially with a nice Safari intercooler, should really fly. I have driven a manual one that had the same kit, was only running 10psi and once the revs got up it really flew. I am in Perth so you are more than welcome to organise a time to come ...

Well you could always donate one of your turbos to me and we can show everyone on the forum how good they might actually be.

Drag race a 5spd 1HD-FT that weighs well over 3t just sitting there. Would loose against a pushbike!

Re: Bolt on turbo upgrdae - 13BT/12HT/1HDT and 1HDFT

I have a design for what I reckon is an excellent dump for the CT26 and it uses a separate tube for the waste. I machine the back of the turbo to fit a 2.5" to 3" concentric reducer then 3" 90. the tube goes right to back of turbo so theory being you dont get turbulent flow on exit of the turbine ...

You obviously don't grasp the simple concept of Needs vs Wants... I don't go to those establishments, I source my wants from alternate locations, and get the best price. A shop can choose to drop there price, if they don't then most of us go elsewhere. Being that the business is there to make money they will generally drop the price to make the sale and to get future sales through word of mouth. So you dont ask for a better price for TV's, white goods, furniture ...
