Re: GU Ute Question?

Found from carsales research:
NO airbags in pre 2006 utes and they never had ABS in utes.
If anyone knows different, let me know.

Thanks.

Re: GU Ute Question?

Thanks gents.

I've put a ute Cab on my rolled 4.2td wagon chasis.
I used the wiring looms from the wagon with ABS and dual airbags.

As of yesterday I have a 2000 GU TD42 with ABS and drivers airbag and I now have to get it engineered.

Next question.

Were ABS brakes an options on 2000 model utes?

GU AIRBAG STEERING WHEEL

I have a rolled over 2000 GU ST wagon TD42 with dual airbags that I'm converting to a ute, the ute cab is a 2000 DX.
I beleieve that (the ute) commercial vehicles don't need airbags. Is this correct?
I have removed the airbag part of the steering wheel. Can this be replaced with an exploded airbag ...

Re: How i shimmed my GQ LSD Diff

Great write up.
Be interested to see what the tecsperts say.

I had mine shimmed up by PGS in Mornington, they use the same shimms a Hobzee (not sure what size).
It was locked solid at first , now it slips a bit, but wheels still chirp on the tar when driven agressively.
Used castrol LSD oil which ...

Re: Lock-right locker- Axel type

I don't think I (or anyone here) was comparing the auto locker with an Air Locker, so that doesn't even come into the equation.
I was thinking about buying these and fitting them front and rear instead of air locker's, would this be wise ?
Just adding my experience's.

In regards to wheel spin ...

Re: Lock-right locker- Axel type

I'm sure that if you read up on how the "auto locker" units work (eg. Lokka/Lock-Rite), you would understand that steering is not an issue, neither is wheelspin in the rear whilst cornering.
I looked into these a number of years ago and went for air lokkers.
So please enlinghten me, have they ...

Re: Lock-right locker- Axel type

I've always had ARB air lokkers front and rear.
With both lokkers in steering is extremely difficult, no chance of getting around switch backs, even with the rear lokker in steering suffers.
I rekkon a lockrite in the front would be painful, in the back may be OK, but a shimmed up LSD also works ...
