Re: 500kg car trailer to carry 2000kg
I think you would really struggle to get your ute under 2 ton. I just chopped my wagon into a ute, it currently has no bullbar or any extras on it . Weighed it the other day and it was 2.1 ton, then you've gotta add bullbar, winch, sliders, cage, spare tyre and whatever else you have

shouldn't have to on a gq, I've done them before without any bashing. My old GU however wasn't even getting close without some serious bashing

Buying TJ wrangler, things to look for
Hi
In the market for a TJ wrangler for the missus, want to spend around 15 - 18 grand. Just want to know for things to look out for while searching, common issues etc.
I have alot of experience with patrols and cruisers but never played around with a Jeep.
Cheers
Josh

Re: Slapping together a TB42
My suggestion would be to scrap the nissan motor and fit a BA or BF engine into it like i did. They are cheap to buy with low k's, and the convervsion should cost less than 3K if you do it yourself. I could never bring myself to put another TB engine into a patrol, if the engine died.

Smoke and fuel filters
Just curious cause it doesnt make sense to me, but can someone explain to me why a diesel blows smoke when the fuel filter is blocked?
In my way of thinking it would be getting less fuel so why does it smoke black??
I have a td42 running 12 psi

Re: Do wheel spacers break studs?
YES, If you want to run spacers dont use alloy ones, go for cast steel. Different expansion rates between your hub and spacer will result in alloy spacers coming loose. I lost a rear wheel at 80kph not fun especially so as I had drum brake rear end and the drum went with the wheel so I had no brakes ...

Re: gq patrol getting hot
Bottom radiator hose might be worth looking at. My old GU had very similar problem however it was anything over 100 - 105, I quite often like to sit on 115. I replaced the bottom hose with a wire wrapped hose, had a spiral of wire inside the hose. As I suspected the hose was colapsing with high revs ...

Re: Add me to the nearly lost rear wheel group
I completely lost my wheel on my old GQ ute at cruiser park one year. Just coming out of a corner at about 70 kph then bang, arse end fell to one side and we were sideways all over the road, when we finally came to a stop i turned to my mate and said " What the f*#k happened then" as i finished the ...

Re: 3" lift question
I agree with the post above. I used to run a 5" on my old shorty with 35's and left the lower arms standard length, this sat my tyre perfectly centered in the guard, if i had made them longer it would have hit the rear of the guard. However if you only intend to run 33's i'd go 10mm longer.
