Far out! Talk about a dig, I posted this over 3 years ago. Just in case anyone was worried about my snorkle choice. I got the Safari and ditched the precleaner, still using the normal ram head and a unifilter prefilter if it is really dusty. :)

I welded up a spacer out of RHS and angle. Spaced the tyre out about 30mm to clear the left door and incorporated a light mount at the same time.

Cost me about $20 in steel and a bit of time stuffing around.

Alternator bearings.

On a trip a couple of years ago a GQ we were travelling with had the alternator sieze with no warning. Luckily one of the other guys had spare bearings.

It may help if you say why you'd like to shorten it as there may be an easier/cheaper way of getting the same result such as a bell housing spacer. Try Marks adapters.
