Rather than extended bumpstops I'd look at raising the shock towers. It is a very easy job to do. We are doing it in a mates truck at present so that we can fit longer 80 series shocks. I welded up a spacer out of RHS and angle. Spaced the tyre out about 30mm to clear the left door and incorporated a light mount at the same time.

Cost me about $20 in steel and a bit of time stuffing around.

AFAIK, The RHS does not have a globe, not even sure they have the wiring there for it. Or SES Patrol is the same.

Alternator bearings.

On a trip a couple of years ago a GQ we were travelling with had the alternator sieze with no warning. Luckily one of the other guys had spare bearings.

Dad's nextdoor neighbour has a GQ he has been offered $3000 for as a trade in. Dad is interested in it and can buy it for $3000, don't know what it needs for a roady at the moment. Just wondering if it would be an OK deal. Details I know are below. 1990 GQ TI LWB TD42 (N/A) 450,000 Km Manual ...

It may help if you say why you'd like to shorten it as there may be an easier/cheaper way of getting the same result such as a bell housing spacer. Try Marks adapters. Can anyone recommend an engineering joint, preferably in Bayswater or close by, that could shorten and respline the input shaft out of my MK Patrol gearbox?
