what about lead bricks / weights? you could attach them under the tray when 4x4ing (they are compact, and should / could also lower the centre of gravity ) and leave them in the shed for daily driving.

what about a 2.7, or 3.4 petrol out of a 96-03 prado?, these are the similar to the newer hilux engines.

yeah i've got a 2000 model prado, goes better than my parents 1990 stock diesel lux off road, but there arent many options if you want to modify one. Thats why i'm going to swap it with my parents hilux at the end of the year because you can do more with them.
