Re: Gearing for a heavy GU on 35's
depends also how bald they . i've 4.375's on 35s td42t its alright on 35's its very good on the road but i would go for tc gears if i wanted to play with low range but for fuel economy and speed i would use 4.3's. 4.6 would be too high and you would be stuck doing 100 cause your engine would be ...

So I wonder why some blokes say they are revving around 26-2800 on 35's with 4.625's
Even if the tyre measures in at 34.5"s on 4.625's the rpm would only be 2353 rpm.

Re: Gearing for a heavy GU on 35's
I think you have chosen the right gearing. The correct calcs give me 4.5:1 gearing to suit 35's. this would give you the factory settings for revs & speedo as if on 31's. So 4.375:1 is close to 4.4:1 so you are a tad under. The 4.625:1 will be to high for your needs. The 4.3's should give you ...

Detroit soft locker
Detroit soft locker. Anyone know where I can still get one for the rear of my GQ as they no longer make 'em. Was informed on another forum that opposite lock have a stock of these but not so as I found out today.

Thanks guys. I just want to get the front to flex better but it already binds out the tie rod on the pitman arm end as it is.

I'd be interested in one for a GQ. Also whats the go with having to have the pan-hard rod on the same angle as the drag-link?

Re: snake racing radius arms
You wont get any more flex with a snake arm as any other brand drop radius arm , because the 3 link design is what binds up through the bushes. The most common options in order are below if you require additional flex Superflex Arms X Link 5 Link 4 Link Triangulated 3 link There is heaps of ...

Re: gq rear control arm
couldn't see it being a drama. I run heavy duty ones with a 6" lift that are factory GQ length. Reason I stayed factory length was the 35's just hit the quarters as is any longer & they're really bite into them.

Just kidding... You had to be. MF would never put an IDI short stroke motor in a tractor. :D It appears nissan are using Hino motors in their light trucks now. They'd be a good patrol motor. MBK180 nissan uses a J05D-TG motor: http://www.udtrucks.com.au/uploads/pageFiles/12_MK5_LEAF_Aug10_LR.pdf ...

Re: Why did nissan stop making the 4.2td.
I would like to know if there is a zd30 that will crawl out in the bush like a TD42. The ones I have experiance with are all still dead under that 1800rpm mark, & thats with tyre sizes no bigger than 32's. Makes for interesting rock crawling work & smelly clutch's. As far as 460,000 kays done by a ...

Re: Why did nissan stop making the 4.2td.
650 kays to 80-85ltrs around town on 35's I don't think is to bad. Haven't been on a trip since turboed & 35's fitted but expecting 700-750 kays out of the 85 ltrs.love_mud wrote:blowngq wrote: I can still pull away from him in every gear, It's not even a contest. Re: Why did nissan stop making the 4.2td.
Anyone who thinks a 3.0 4 cylinder engine is appropriate for a 2.5 tonne 4wd needs their head read. Its not in there because it was the right engine for the job...it's just because Nissan are disorganised morons... Yes well I agree with you 100%. There are some weird people in the world. Maybe they ...

Re: small oil leak from turbo
Yes mate should have been more informative. I disconnected the pcv hose from the tappet cover that goes to the intake pipe just before the turbo compressor. I left it damgling beside the motor for the time been, its just adding to the mess from when I do an oil change & remove the filters. I'll ...

Re: small oil leak from turbo
Mine did the same thing. It was blow by. I disconnected the hose from the intake & its just sitting beside the motor atm. Fixed the leak. Think the oil was seaping out of the bottom bolt & pooling on the under side of the compressor.

2 bolt GQ engine mounts
Can some one post up the link or point me in the right direction for the do it your self gq patrol engine mounts using the bush & mount from the rear control arms.
