the battery saver measures the voltage inside the fridge. that means after the voltage drop across the wiring between the fridge and the battery. if you battery was really at 10.4V it won't start anything, it's dead. so if you used starter motor cable to wire up your fridge ( big thick wire ) then ...

if it is driven off the dimmer cct then it won't be 12v.
try the test again but adjust the dimmer brightness and see which wire tracks the change in brightness

i've got an 06 mk triton dual cab diesel and have noticed the same thing.
i also thought it was the clutch but it only does it in 1st or reverse from a standing start. if it's rolling it doesn't happen.
i haven't investigated further apart form what i've read about the ml doing it as well.

try inverting the fridge for a few minutes then try it again. if the elements still get hot from 12/240/gas then it can only be a few other options. it's lost it's coolant gas, it's got an 'air lock' in the cooling gas system and/or it's been overheated and the coolant now has little crystals in it ...

just checked similar on mine. ~420mm on the front and ~520mm on the rear. that's eith a ARB bar and winch on the front and empty on the back.
and about 5mm clearance on the bottom bump stop.
might be time to adjust the front end. if i can squeeze underneath it to adjust the torsion bars.

have been toying with the idea of re using a couple of 31*10.5*15's from my 4runner but apart from replacing the hubs I'd need 2" flares on the guards to make it legal. so not sure which way to go. it makes sense to have the trailer wheels the same as the vehicle but it's a lot of rubber for a 6*4 ...

I did a full service on my 94 RV6 4Runner just before heading down the coast for a week. Running on PULP I managed 440km's out of the tank (the light wsn't even on) and if you adjust because of the tyre factor that's closer to 500. Sitting on 100-110. How may litres did you use? my manual v6 94 ...

You will need the numbers of the compliance plate as the ratios depend upon the particular build. ie auto/manual/factory tyre size etc.
