The turbo will fit fine, but you may need to do some pump work to get the most out of your upgrade. a 1HD-T engine has direct injected fuel system different head, pump, injectors, crank, rods and pistons.

I once had the same issue with an 80s. I removed all studs and replace them with unbreako bolts still using the cone and spring washers. the car has since done 100+ km with no problems.

The trick to any good turbo job on a Diesel is to have a boost compensater fitted to you injection pump and have it calibrated on a diesel pump test bench. this will ensure you have the correct fueling throughout is rev range, no black smoke and no overheating issues.
