Re: Gu TD42t hard to start help needed
The advance mechanism in the pump wears and they need more timing to compensate, I power time them on the dyno, I have seen EGT's lower by 50-80 degrees with the correct (optimum) pump timing and more power/economy along with starting better. The puffs of white are unburned fuel, it would missfire ...

I think that is what is referred to as going backwards. Less power, no way to engineer due to vintage of the engine.

I've tuned a dozen or more with over 10psi and all is well with them. You don't want it to knock (ping), tune to the fuel you know you can get and the best quality available. The deck of the ls1 becomes an issue and headgaskets can be hard to keep on, Lsx and cast iron blocks have thicker decks ...

We do them, sandblasted and powdercoated, need the car though so if you are not in Melbourne could be a problem.

Re: asperated 4.8
Sandys car became scrap after an incident off road racing, it was a strocked 4.8, crower make a kit. It's pricey for the increase if you ask me. I've done a couple with aftermarket ECU's both Wolf and Haltech, extractors and a big throttle body with the right tune and they come up very well as a ...

Re: full bolt on tb54 GU turbo kit!!!!
Just looked at their website and the tb48 kit doesn't have an intercooler in the picture? I ran 330rwhp and 15psi on my tb45 for 60 000km's(200-260) and didn't have any issues. I think the weak rods issue has to be the tune because in theory I should have thrown a rod in that time. I agree with ...

Re: full bolt on tb54 GU turbo kit!!!!
AVO and Safari have had kits out for a few years, the problem is the TB45 tends to chuck rods out around 165-180 rwKw. They are not a hard car to do as the manifold is the same as the TB42, you can use Diesel manifolds and make the rest too. Have made over 400rwkW but pistons and rods are a must ...

4l60e or 4l80e, LS1 Pcm controlled no worries, duel shift patterns, fully programable. Bolts straight on and designed for the power output of the LS1.

Re: patrol speed sensor to ford ecu
VDO dealers often have these adapters that do sine to square wave and allow for frequency mods(to callibrate), I use them from time to time. The J3 tune can dail out the components of the tune looking for speed input, this is mainly idle speed control as the vehicle slows to a stop. I'd do the J3 ...

Further to this, B pillar protection is less an issue. A pillar protection is the problem, roll cages will be possible however you need to find someone who is prepared to accept the liability for the possible outcomes. Insurance of race car modification is near on impossible to get of cost ...

Re: 4.2 Injector pump for Big HP
I've been using a simple means of controlling EGTS with Auber EGT pyro for a number of years, simply with a solenoid to bleed the boost off the aneroid. It allows easy protection although a bit crude a lot cheaper that an e-boost. I fitted the device on my GU TD42 that was stock internals and making ...

Roll cages now illegle in Vic.
With their normal lack of discussions with the puplic Vic roads have in their ultimate wisdom made it impossible to fit a roll cage to a vehicle as of January this year. I fail to understand why consultation and a set of guidelines is so difficult so 4x4 and part time racers cannot protect ...

Re: tb42 turbo injectors
You can swap the "o" rings out of Bosch EV1 style injectors to suit the 11mm style in the Nissan. The amount of fuel used to make power depends on how efficiently the engine makes power with the fuel, a pushrod TB42 isn't the most efficient thing around, I'd be leaning towards 600 cc's for 550 HP ...

Re: tb42 carby setup to efi
I have done many of these and tuned a heap more, firstly choose your injectors based on how much power you want to make, there are formula that enable you to work out rough sizing at 80% duty readily available on line. You can use the more popular Bosch style injectors in most cases by swapping the ...

I've never seen anyone be dissappointed from turbo charging a diesel, there aren't any other mods that will give 50% + increases in power and torque without using more fuel in normal driving. I rather the DTS/MTQ kit myself due to the Mitsubishi turbo which is water cooled and has a full 360 degree ...

That restrictor is a specific size to allow the closed loop control to work, removing it will just make the car richer, it was probably lean or had a snorkel with no balance line fitted. I think you will find that the economy may suffer from this change.

If you modify the bar you will potentially make the car unroadworthy, the bar has passed testing to assure its operation with airbags, no modification is allowed on these from a roadworthy perspective.

Re: GU V8 Conversion - Engineering - Insurance
You need to use an engine that is the same vintage or newer, that would be the motor from a VT series one I suspect, if you have a VN VP VR 5.0L you will probably be in trouble, if it is a VS series 3 or VT you should get it through.

Re: 4.8l modification in 4wd monthly
Yeah there is someone on Mudrhino claiming 230 rwkW on 37's with an 11mm pump, yeah right. It pisses me off to be honest, some shops just claim the biggest figures and adjust the dyno to suit. We have a VL on 98 octane that runs 9.92 on 8" street ET's and it makes about 350 rwkW on my dyno, we ...

Re: 4.8l modification in 4wd monthly
Wire in chips such as the Uni Chip, XEDE, Interceptor, SMT 8 and so on are all good to a point. They all rely on manipulating the factory ecu by varing input voltages and signals such as crank/cam, MAF, MAP and so on. They often have injector drivers for additional injectors when turbocharging ...

Re: 4.8l modification in 4wd monthly
ETC throttles in general need two forward and reverse voltages to satisfy the ecu, this is true for Holden and Ford, resistors offer a static resistance and a varible resistance would be required, yes it could be done but seriously with that level of modification on a stock ecu you'd be better off ...

It really only takes about a teaspoon of water in 1 cylinder to hydraulic it. If they were hosing the top of the motor this amount could have easily leaked in through a stuffed gasket and run straight down one of the manifold runners to an open valve. Generally it wont bend a rod or anything on the ...

Yes a unichip or similar product is fine on stock engines, they are good to fine tune but not so hot for modified engines turbo's and alike. Personally I'd use an exed from chiptorque or a Haltech interceptor before I used a unichip as I think they have a superior product. I use an SMT 8 from ...

Wolf also do a plug in for the 4.8, it is their V500 and I have used both the V500 and Haltechs earlier E11 (In my own vehicle). Off our dyno a stock 4.8 makes 125 rwkW give or take, I have acheieved with 98 fuel, a Gen III throttle body, 3" exhaust and a V500 tuned, 165 rwkW, I got similar but ...
