surf box upto the 1uzfe I'd hate to say it mate, but it's not worth the bother. I know a few people who have tried and failed. It's much easier to use the 1UZ auto with Surf transfer. Surf box has 2 solenoids, 1U box has 4 solenoids and a few other differences. I run the 1U auto and have never had ...

I have to reply - it's annoying me. To start with. Boost/pressure is a result of resistance to flow. Any turbo can make 100+ psi, just simply block the outlet. The way an engine is 'boosted' is the fact that the turbo can supply more air than the engine can use (at certain rpm) which is why boost ...

I've gone a little different to most people and left the auto in, but it still goes like sh!^ off a stick! I'm upto about the $6k mark and doing 95% of the work myself. I'm in the middle of this conversion Let me know how it goes with the cooling side of things. Look like we are running the same ...

Yes the mid-sump will foul on the diff even with a 2" body lift. As with Twisty, I used a 2" body lift and a front sump and it sits approx 20-30 above the steering arm. As a word of warning, this is not a easy coversion as some people say it is. In the whole scheme of things, it is 'fairly' easy ...

50mm OD steel blocks, cut to 50mm lengths. 11mm hole. $30 for steel bar and $13 for high tensie bolts. Easy. (although I did have access to a reciprocating hacksaw ) Easiest mod I have ever done. Just loosen off steering, rad hoses, fuel hoses ect and keep an eye on stuff when you are lifting it ...

Had the same problem on a different car (A surf) and it was a toe in/out problem. I have a mate who is a tyre fitter (unfort not close enough to use) and I told him that my toe in/out alignment was out by so much and his reply was "gee that must have squealed around corners" without telling him the ...

Pulled the motor/g'box/t'case out of surf all in one go with std engine crane. You can get enough height out of it, but will need to swing the lot around and manually lift the t'case end over the rad support panel (not heavy). You virtually have to lift the shabang out vertically, but I managed on ...

It can be done at home very easily. The only thing to be wary of is that you cannot pull the axles out far enough without disconnecting the brake hoses. I dont need a puller either, just undo the 4 bolts that hold the backing plate/brakes onto to the diff housing. It's not a hard job, should be able ...

I am currently in the middle of this conversion. Use the auto that came out of the Half cut, and a transfer case out of the surf will/should fit. There are a couple of choices that are available. The output shaft will have to be changed to the 4wd output shaft, and if i'm not mistaken, one hole has ...

I have just embarked on this project myself. Mine is a 1987 T/d. I have the 1uz sitting on the floor at home, just waiting for the gearbox to be modified. Why would you not get it regoed? Correct me if I am wrong, but the new QLD laws go on a power to weight ratio. Since the 4wd is over 1.5t, the ...

Mechanical Diff locks
I was planning on installing them myself, and have been able to see a few websites that have them fairly cheap. Possibly get 2 lockrights landed for about AUD$800. Have wrote an email, but none of them have got back to me yet, maybe they dont want my business.

Mechanical Diff locks
Ok, first things first! DO NOT even mention the words "air lockers" in this post please. I know there good and blah blah blah, but there so god damn expensive. Anyway, I would like any comments from the people who are running mech lock, either front or rear (dont care what brand), if they have any ...
