Also a wider track, necessitating a fair deal of fab work to get any mounts to match-up I would imagine.

Locrite from Richmond Gears US was only about $200 couple of years ago (despite $700 prices quoted on here). It was cheaper to get direct from US, <5 day delivery.
Works great, as stated above due to Sierra lightweight never a problem on corners. Massive improvement.
Personally I suspect the ...

Hmmm A vehicle which has not been available for well over a decade, but still very popular.
A vehicle which regularly competes (and finishes, often on podium) in most 4WD comps in the land.
The humble Sierra is an awesome little 4WD, it is far more capable than most, definitely cheaper and ...

Don't disagree Alien.
I have seen some $tupid setups which give heaps of flex but very limited driveability. Better flex than standard is required but as you state must remain balanced.
A Zook is light and nimble, lifting a wheel or two is fairly natural, so long as traction can be maintained it ...

i'd tell him to do a 2" spring lift and chop the hell out of the guards to fit 31's... chuck in a rear airlocker and tcase gears and he'll be set for loads of fun.
X 2
Or to save $$$ just get a LockRight instead of the airlocker.

If you are doing this at home, hammer, chisel, grinder, heat etc
If you have access to a bearing press it is certainly worth a try. If you need to pay for the press then it is a decison as to value (ie will it cost more than a new bearing?)
Haven't done a rear bearing for a couple of years, but I ...

They are all expensive (though that is relative to the individual's cost of living).
For practicality the cheap rubber stripping to extend the standard flare is good enough but if people really want something price is sometimes not an obstacle.

2 sets of flares = 610 us + 200 shipping = 830 US@ 82c/$ = $1012 + 5%=$1062 + 10% GST = $1169 for two sets of flares landed, or 584/set.
So Paying $14 extra to get what you really want is not worth the effort?
Steve your maths is out 610 +200 = 810 not 830 as you quote.
If you apply the maths ...

Aldi have a welder for $79.00 (or did last week, usually maintain special prices on these sorts of things) comes with the old style face mask. Then you can save for the auto darkening ones which seem to start around $65-75 (Bunnings, repco etc).
Tadpole is looking good.

To get the gears off you can use a gear puller (3 jaw 200mm from SuperCheap about $40) or once agian (though I am not recommending) BFH. You may break teeth, but these are the gears coming off not you new ones.

When I did mine i just took mine into transmission workshop and got them to press the gears on $20, or as others have done some piping and a BFH (just like many do with bearings)
