Re: lights out

Sounds like the headlight switch assy/stalk has failed.

mine does pretty much the same, flick highbeams on and everything drops out, scares the crap out of ya the first time it happens in the bush!

some people have had luck repairing them, but replacements can be found on ebay etc.

Don;t forget he's running 24spline maxi drive axles, if yours has been untouched it will have 10spline axles.
locker + 35s + 10splines = carry spare axles!

Re: Rear maxi Axle Refit

You usually need to remove the actuator and line it up. Next time, lock the difflock before you remove the axle - then it will stay put. Cheers Dan
Yeah general consensus is remI've actuator block and line it up from there so will get into that soon. Yep now know about the difflock thing. Guess it ...

Now just trying to get the bugger back in, do i need to pull the actuator block off and line it all up again or can i be lucky ...

Re: 3.9l range rover engine question

Ive got a rangie with the 3.9l motor and it doesnt have a air flow meter in the intake hose, but its all plumed up and looks like it has been like this for a long time. It does have a home made sensor the goes into a bolt thats welded to the side of the metal pipe that is joined to the intake side ...

if its not your wheels out of balance could be the panhard rod bushes, replace the bolt while your there, it gets fairly chewed out.

With maxi axles and lockers and strengthened CVs, I'd take a guess that the next weakest point is probably going to be the crownwheel. Solution (or at least life prolonging option!) is apparently to peg them in some way. Not sure on ...

lengthening maxi lines

recently lifted my rangie a bit more and as the maxidrives were put in by previous owner at stock height the vacuum actuator lines are now quite tight so i'm looking at lengthening the front and re-routing them along the front radius arms.

just wondering is this were most people run them, mine were ...

My impression is that the resistances of the gauge sender are similar, and also the hole sizes are similar but one is UNC or pipe or something and one is metric. This applies to 3.9 with V belts up to 93 anyway.

fair bit of differance in sender size, heres a pic-
bigger rangie sender sits ...

temp sender disco to RR

did a quick search but didn't reveal too much.

I'm putting a 96 disco 3.9 in my 86 rangie and obviously the temp senders are differant, in both thread size and resistance values.

essentially what i;m looking for is a sender the same thread as the disco one but with the resistance values of the ...

Birdy ran the old truck, unsure of times though.. sure someone on here will know.
