Outer Limits 4x4 Board

They used these in Hyster forklifts around the 4 tonne mark, we had quite a few at work. Basically all parts are interchangeable with a V8 small block, same 4" bore etc. I have seen one in a hilux and it is quite a good conversion with plenty of grunt.

I have just finished setting mine up on my TD42, but mines a GQ so no vacuum pump in the way.

As already stated the 308 pressure plate and Dyna clutch plate is the way to go, I used this setup in my old Hilux and it worked well.

Using water to cool the welds wont bend your housing :? its probaby not a good idea though, what Wendle said is a good idea, dont weld all in one spot to spread the heat over a larger area. After having a look at my bellhousing i would say that the clutch fork has to go on the passenger side as the starter motor is in the way on the drivers side. Would be the go for the ford V8 to lux conversion.

Put the thermostat back in, get rid of the hilux radiator, i run a four core cruiser radiator,no engine driven fan, and a 14" thermo in front of the radiator and i have no cooling probs anymore.

Count the number of teeth on the crownwheel and divide it by the number of teeth on the pinion.Then you have the ratio.

I think cruiser discs were all ventilated, thats a solid disc so probably anywhere from 79 till whenever they put vented discs in hiluxes.

My v8 doesnt cost any more to run than the 18r it replaced,so theres that question answered for you.
