They used these in Hyster forklifts around the 4 tonne mark, we had quite a few at work. Basically all parts are interchangeable with a V8 small block, same 4" bore etc. I have seen one in a hilux and it is quite a good conversion with plenty of grunt.

GQ TD42 Pre filter

Gday Boys. Just picked up my new GQ ute. Just checking a few things out and noticed that there is no prefilter in the pre filter canister. Just wondering if there is some reason for doing this that any of you blokes know of, if not I will be off to grab one to whack in there. The guy I got it off ...

Thanks for the replies boys. The hoist isnt totally needed, but a handy bonus. The GU is a factory turbo, is an ex log truck service vehicle, so should have been regulary serviced and is so close to the ground that you would be lucky to squeeze 31's under it. It is also not a good starter ie; winds ...

Gday, firstly this isnt strictly atech question but I felt it would be the best area to ask in. Ok joining the Patrol camp shortly. :) I can pick up an untidy 99 GU flat tray TD 42 for around the $16-$17k mark. Around 280k, coils/shocks will all need replacing to get a decent set of tyres under it ...

i think the g52 is under rated. ive had one in my lux behind the v8 for 4 years now and it gets caned pretty hard and havent had an ounce of drama with it. I agree, 5th gear is a bit weak as with many 5 speeds, and the bearings can get noisey, but they still make bearings. . If you drive like ...

Re: Cruiser Diffs into Hilux...Anyone???

Hey crew, Hoping for a bit of input regarding rear diffs for my Hilux. I have a Lexus V8 in my 1985 model (ex-diesel) tray back and the extra power killed my rear diff last weekend (stripped the pinion gear...), so I'm interested in a fix. I am considering just putting in a ARB locker with a ...

Using water to cool the welds wont bend your housing :? its probaby not a good idea though, what Wendle said is a good idea, dont weld all in one spot to spread the heat over a larger area. Come to think of it using water to cool the welds will probably crack it, i just remeber the teacher at tech ...

You would probably find a 12" thermo is not big enough for a cruiser radiator. I had one on my hilux with cruiser radiator and it didnt cover enough area and wasnt up to the cooling task. I bought a 14 " off ebat for around $70 brand new, wasnt a davies craig though, they are fairly expensive. A ...

Just remembered the 60 and 40 have different yokes on the diffs, but not a major problem(unis are the same), and i dont think think they are interchangeable as the 40 diffs have a course spline on the pinion and the 60 has a fine spline. Not sure about the later 40 diffs though, they may have fine ...

I have an empty 60 series rear housing and a pair of axles thats it... After having a look at my bellhousing i would say that the clutch fork has to go on the passenger side as the starter motor is in the way on the drivers side. Would be the go for the ford V8 to lux conversion.

I've got a ford V8 to supra 5 speed bellhousing in the shed. The bellhousing will bolt straight up to a hilux box, but the hole for the clutch fork is on the passenger side, but that would probably still be ok if you used the ford slave cylinder and master cylinder. I used a holden v8 to supra 5 ...

Count the number of teeth on the crownwheel and divide it by the number of teeth on the pinion. Then you have the ratio.
