Re: Another idle problem
I don't think it would be an issue but like the others its worth a shot to disconnect it. I'm not 100% but there should be a large plug on the actuator, Just unplug it with the car turned off and go for a run. ABS wont work but you will have normal braking abilities.

Re: Another idle problem
Check all fuses inside the cabin and under the bonnet too. Has the cruise control cable puller thing (technical term) jammed or playing havoc with the throttle body, Maybe disconnect the cruise cable from the throttle body.

Re: rear diff buggered
The pinion bearing can collapse and cause the seal to leak 1st as there is a little movement then when it gets bad it will cause excessive tail shaft movement making the crown wheel and pinion gear mesh differently causing noise and can chip teeth etc.

Re: Gen 1 gearbox compatibility
I don't know if the diesel box is the same but I've got 2 5 speeds and 2 transfers. Both from 2.6 petrol's.
One is noisy but still drives fine and the other is quiet and drives fine. Pm me if ya want them.

Re: Removing butterfly's from inlet manifold.
If you remove the butterflies you will lose bottom end power. When they are closed it makes the air intake longer and generally produces more bottom end power and when they are open its shorter to produce more power higher in the rev range. I would leave it in and try and match a seal up to ...

Re: Thermo fan info
I have a 2.6 petrol Pajero with twin 10 inch davies craig thermo fans, Also have a HKS mechanical temp gauge fitted. Off road in low range with a bit of loud pedal it doesn't get over 90. On the highway with the fans off at 100kph it sits on 80. Before it had a stuff clutch fan and no shroud so it ...
