Re: td5 or v8
The v8 is a much nicer engine to drive as it has torque from idle but uses heaps of fuel in comparison. The price of v8's is a fair bit lower .

intermittent elec problem, help needed
Hi all, I had problems with the head light and dip switch on a 92 rangie. The head lights were powered through the switch and after 19 years the switch was fried. I installed new switches and put relays into both main and high beam circuts. Now I have a problem where if the inside temperature of the ...

Re: cams ccda road legalitys
To be both race ready and road worthy at the same time is hard to acheive. The front part of the cage seems to be the hardest part. Forward vision can not be impaired, sun visors need to be operable, occupant head protection from the cage needs to be used but this adds to obscuring forward vision ...

Re: 81 Rangie,indicator issue!
Remove the top and bottom cover plates of the steering column, the ones behind the steering wheel, if you move a bit of wiring out of the way you should be able to see the mechanism. Turn the steering wheel and see whats happening. Take it from there. The car is now thirty years old and the parts ...

s.g Leslie and son, Heildelberg or there abouts, they probably invented most of the mods available. Also good good people to deal with.

Clive, give ULR a try or Graeme at British car components. If you need a hand give me a PM as I would like to learn how to set up a gear set, I started one once made a mess of it and never tried again.

Re: front end flex
The front is tight to give good on road handling, any thing you do to free up the front will reduce this. Although there are many tried and true methods it depends where you want to end up , do you get stuck offroad alot because you run out of front articulation. Start with longer shocks and ...

Re: running 37's - advice sought
I don't think rover diffs are capable of coping with 37's unless you drive very carefully, but if you want to, go for it.
Tyre choice for me would be maxxis trepadors they seem to do every thing quite well .
A bump stop extension might help with clearance while keeping COG low,

warn low mount brake
I dusted of the low mount I have had in the shed for a few years since I got the high mount with a view to putting it on another car. It's a 1984 8000 low mount that served me well for a long time with the occasional grease change. The info I got on the web about the brake was that it should nearly ...

Re: 110 cab chassis comp truck
My old cage in the rangie attatched to the chassis, when I went to scrutineering they wern't intrested in that . The theory is that you are in a shell that is attatched to the chassis and that shell is reinforced to take the load of a rollover even if the body detaches from the chassis, so I had to ...

Re: 110 cab chassis comp truck
I think they let the OBC landy compete just because of the amount of effort and money he had put in just to land himself and a car here, but it does set a precedent. I was told one of the reasons for no exo cages is that people invariably use them as panel protection and put them under stress and ...

Re: 110 cab chassis comp truck
I asked a few questions a while back in regard to compliance, a 110 3.5lt truck cab was a factory build, I don't know if they ever came in an extra cab. The compliance plate must stipulate the correct body type, you can not just cut up a wagon body. I want to go the cab chassis route to minimise ...

Re: 110 cab chassis comp truck
6.5 Rangie, my son has a 109 truck cab at Noojee that may offer some parts to the build ( he doesn't drive it much as he is only eight). I don't think an exo cage qualifies under ccda regs, I think I can work out the A pillar, but the main hoop B pillar and the roof line seem to clash.

110 cab chassis comp truck
I have been pondering for a while about building a 110 cab chassis comp truck for ccda production class. I am currently running an 82 2door rrc, apart from the 4.6 it complys with production regs, but in the two vic winch challenges I have done, first one I chewed the side gears out of one diff with ...

Re: CCDA Production class winch rules
I thought the same when I had a low mount, sold it, bought a high mount for $700 put a seal and break kit in it and I was away. A few mods to the bar was needed but the performance and the serviceability makes it worth it. You will spend so much money once you start competing that $700- $1200 for a ...

I have flogged my 100mm makita for 13 years and its still going.
The 125 metabo variable speed got repaired twice in 6 years , but very good to use .The new 125mm blue bosch is six months old and going well.
My vote goes to Makita.

There is two air lines going to the front output cover on the transfer case that operate the difflock. I can't remember exactly how it works, but IFIRC engine vacuum pulls the diaphram which actuates a fork which slides a locking dog onto the centre diff. The fork slides along a short shaft with two ...
