Re: Winch bar issues

The issue might be that the winch is WAY over sized for your car and bar. If you make the bar stronger you will only be pushing more strain onto the chasis, and i know i'd rather have the bar bend before the chasis bends. Double line pulls will also help for future winching, spreading the load to a ...

Re: Tube bending

Look on the JD2 site. Their bender manuals have plenty of info. I never use maths as I am anal and would rather get it 100% right. It's better to bend a bit of tube as a reference and use it to work out the lengths as you bend. I agree 100% but the maths is a good guideline for a ruff estimate for ...

Re: Cracked Housing

Pull out, remove the centre, clean it ( oil ) out, drill stop holes, v notch the crack then weld it up .. only proper way to do it. If has cracked once without proper prep etc it will happen again , possibly worse. Yeah got to drill stop holes at the ends of the crack so it doesn't keep cracking as ...

Re: Tube bending

As said by the others gains and losses are all dependent on the setup and even small things like the grade and quality of the steel. The easiest way to see is to just bend it to the angle you want and check the lengths and radius's of the bends this is a formula for working out the arc length of the ...

Re: Pajero - Buying 1 new piston

I would think it would need to be rebored as the washer has probably scored the bores
Get in touch with your local Mitsubishi dealer they would know where to get pistons
you can get rings from most auto places

Re: GQ twin shocks

Small hijack... Hey brando, can you tell me a little bit about the bump setup too? Pressure you run in them? Are they a bit clunky in normal driving? Do you allow for full compression of the bump? What lift is the vehicle in the picture? I have some 3in travel armada hydro bumps to go in the front ...

Re: Would you mount a winch?

If you are not planning on using it much then maybe consider a cheap Tigerz but the solenoids are prone to failure and the spare parts bin at Tigerz is quite large. and then buy a hand winch for just in case where do you come up with this? I believe alot of people use the tigerz solenoids in place ...

I would be guessing that the Grade of the material may be higher with the longs than the Cals
and the design may be different which may lead to higher strength

Sorry to dig up an old thread, Just want to clarify this topic, use the guys running in Cliffhanger, OBC etc as an example, there trucks are obviously modified from mild to wild, do they need to have their trucks 'roadworthied' after their mods eg. suspension/chassis/engine conversions/mods, or do ...

Re: What gps for winch truck?

Most guys run a marine style GPS that you can input co-ordinates or a laptop for navrun style events and some people are starting to use I-pads and tablets
people usually use either a Mangellan or a Garmin

and on a laptop they mainly use Ozi explorer or sometimes Memory maps
