Re: Fitting passenger side seat with centre seat to lwb
Plenty of wagons came with that seat instead of a console. I think it was mainly (only?) the GLi model wagons, they were 6 seaters with no 3rd row. The GLi's second row seat wasn't split in the middle (so you can have 3 child seats across it without a crab bar) and a steel back - so when it folded ...

Probably not a great example - most(?) consumer appliances are double insulated, so the case/chassis/box shouldn't be earthed - but I get what you meant...Dooley wrote: Like with consumer gear the chassis is the enclosure or case, if metal, and may be earthed for safety, depending on how it's powered.

x2 - I bought an old ac/dc tig, watched Corvell's tig welding video twice, and my first weld was better than anything I managed with my mig.SteelArt wrote: Ron Corvell has a few good vidoes out there which take you through it and is a good place to start.
He reminds me of Al off home improvement though

When I converted my GQ a year or two ago from R12, I just had the hoses replaced (original ones were cracking) and the dryer too. All up was about $280. They couldn't get the adapter valves onto the back of the compressor or something because it was too close to the engine mount, so they just added ...

Re: negative-earth on body v battery
How is that any different to simply earthing out to a solid point on the chassis or body? Don't just assume that your chassis is earthed - a common setup is battery earth to the body and engine only. Some chassis appear to be earthed, but have a moderate resistance that causes problems when you ...

Make sure you get a foot pedal. Because Al is so conductive, you need to be able to back off the current while you're going or you'll end up in a mess. There's a dvd by Covell called 'Tig Welding Basics' that's a great intro to tig welding Al. They also have another dvd 'Working with tubing' which ...

You might find that a smallish soldering iron won't work too well with an inverter. My little 300w inverter won't start with a 20w soldering iron plugged in, I need to plug something else in to draw a bit more current so the inverter's auto-start circuit can see the load. I gave up and bought a $15 ...
