why dont you just turn it around, so the gearbox is on the otherside. still works the same just your feed will now be over the top like you want. everything else remains the same, no extra work on the winch, only new mounting points. You just have to put up with people telling you that you have it ...

A problem with the lowmount winches is the problem of slow no load speed and most have poor freespools. U can loose alot of time running the line out for the winches. Weight - Try and seal off the chassis rails as much as possible, its amazing how much crap ends up in them and as the others have ...

You will need to use either a Toyota hiace rear output shaft and tailshaft housing, a vitara transfer case or fabricate a short tailshaft housing to suit. steve. forgive my ignorance but are you saying that the output shaft and housing from a hiace auto will mate up to a 4 speed auto? And if so ...

fiat twin cam 1.6,1.8 & 2.0 will bolt up to the gearbox.
But it's not a straight swap. Need to alter sump, bracket for front diff etc.

Given that the transfercase is divorced you could put any RWD engine and gearbox combi in as long as it is short enough.

Drive old engine and new back to back and you won't want the g13.

A fast pto is better for pulling through hundreds of metres of mud. Ok point taken. I guess over here coz of our terrain conditions ( FULL of MUD MUD MUD) and how the comp trails are setup a "God's Winch" would be ideal where speed is crucial. Down under anyone toyed around with a setup like ours ...

If you can find an aisin seiki 1000 high mount winch (factory option for 60 series cruisers) this would be the best bet. Not as fast as the warn high mount but more reliable, and has a real free spool and high temp motor light on the factory winch control. Get the 24v one, will last forever. http ...

Depending on what you want it to look like you can get 31s under with 2" lift and 1" body lift if you lose the prissy plastic guards and such. You will need to fix the gearing though. Simple way trialjimny gears and a speedo corrector. Hardcore way replace transfercase with sj one and reduction ...

if you are mechanically inclined you could try and creat something out of a vitara transfercase that could then sit between the existing gearbox and case. 1:1 high and 1.8 reduction on top the the existing ratios.
