Anti-stall in action. You can hear the brakes groaning..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZ57E6ZayLo Of course the ramps are set up so TC doesn't have to work too hard - and there are other 4x4s that could do this, but that doesn't devalue the spectacle of the Defender making it look easy! Edit ...

I'm pretty sure the t-case is still the LT-230 but with 1.2 high range. Unfortunately it is probably the LT-230Q (quiet) gears from the Disco II which according to Bill/daddylonglegs are not as stout as the older gears. I'm also pretty sure it is still Rover diffs front and rear with P38 on the 110 ...

I find some folk's attitude to all this a bit bemusing.:? :P How many people on this forum could actually afford to buy a new Defender? Sure as hell not me and I would hazard a guess and say that that goes for about 80% of us. Therefore why the hell would the marketing and accounts big wigs at land ...

63:1 crawl ratio sounds good. A tad more torque can't be bad, and frankly if the thing has better heating/air con, who the hell cares what the facia looks like? ;) Not sure about the bonnet bulge, but with steel wheels, black grille/surround and no air con nose it'll probably look fine. It's just ...

The local mountain rescue team had a PS10 on test for a couple of days. The engine seems strong, once you get used to the long throttle travel. Brakes are very good. It was the first time I have been in a vehicle with parabolic springs, and I was pretty impressed with the ride quality. Having said ...

If the 80% Ashcroft is too low, why would you go lower? Who said anything about the Ashcroft being too low? :? I was pointing out the fact that no overlap exists between high and low range. Thus there is a good chance that on a moderate trail you will find low range is too low and high range is too ...

As you may know Ashcroft has designed their low range gearset so that there is no overlap between high and low range i.e. low 5th is slightly lower geared than 1st gear in high. Good in a tractor maybe but I don't like the sounds of it in an off road/trail vehicle. What I would like to know is if ...

Are the cast forks readily available - and can they be swapped into 300Tdi and later landies? I assume the Td5s have the same weakness - it's unbelievable that land rover big wigs sanction cost cutting like this - what happens if the cheapo pressed fork fails in the middle of the Sahara? :bad-words ...

Nick, I was wondering what you plan to do for the gear linkage - I know the factory 129s had no transmission tunnel within the cab, being mounted so high - and a very long gearstick as a result. Thinking about it there is more potential for proper three man bench seating in the 129 cabs if you were ...

I believe 1-tons (at least those with ENVs) had a chamfer/trimming of the front crossmember to clear the ENV diff, even with the bump stop spacers. I don't think this is present on my military chassis but can't be sure as I haven't seen a 1-ton in person. Maybe Nick can identify the chamfer for us ...

Something else which has been queried before, perhaps by yourself Bill(?) is the issue of boring out the stub axles to fit the Longfield 300M stub shafts. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought that this was necessary - I take it the ID of the Toy stub axle is greater than Rovers? Anyway this is ...

The only issue I see is that all the CVs I and a guy I know with the same setup (MD) have blown have gone on the stubshaft which a ring won't stop. I thought this was the case for a lot of folks too. Which is why KAMs stub-less CVs, plus a high quality material seperate stub make such good sense in ...

Defender purists look away......
Found this site recently. The 90 has a front SOA leaf conversion and probably Dana 60s front and rear - looks like it works quite well, but a bit top heavy.
