I did tanks either side of the tail shaft. They hang from the round tube ebhind the transfer and at the back from a hanger I welded onto the upper links mounting point.
I made mine out of 4.5mm alu and have a 3mm Domex plate on the underbelly. Alu is lighter and the welds are way bigger. Hopefully ...

On corrugation the softer shock works as well as slow stuff, but I think the bigger stuff at speed will still require a harder shock. I'd still go for a harder shock, my Rancho Pro's are set at max and they work really well. But at high speed over bigger stuff I can still feel that the shock could ...

Johhny Joint for Radius Arm End
Hi Guys
Would a Johnny Joint handle the loads if used at the chassis end of a radius arm? I want to make new radius arms that attach behind and below the transmission crossmember on my GQ. They will end up about 1100mm from axle to chassis end. I was thinking of using a big johnny style joint at ...

Just a note on the airbags, for the back of a GQ you don't need any mounting hardware, just 2 holes in the top spring perch and if you want you can drill a hole in the botom spring mount forward of the current hole in the centre. The Firestone bag fits without any problems and no rubbing anywhere. I ...

I can set the level with the air springs almost anywhere in the 10"stroke. I am looking for a good position for general setup and then I will set the castor up at that same position. The biggest problem I have founbd with the air setup that is so easily adjustable is that you need to pay a lot more ...

37's and Shock Travel
I am redoing my radius arms. Too expensive to get ones from your end of the world and thought seeing as there are quite a few of new ideas I'd give it a bash as well. I want to combine drop boxes with longer radius arms. I want to move the mounting point to behind the gearbox crossmember, this ...

Thanks. I just moved up to 37's and need to do something about the suspension. The idea was to do drop boxes, but now I think I will do arms as well. First I just want to do a set of longer radius arms without any of the interesting stuff. Being in South Africa I it is a bit difficult getting a set ...

Guys, just check the specs of the Masterpull carefully. There seems to be a healthy dose of marketing in their "Masterpull vs the rest of the worlds ropes" document on their website. Firstly they use Dynex Dux SK-75 from Dynex and according to Dynex themselves the 12mm is a 35000lb rope. Masterpull ...

My intention is to come over in 2008 and do OBC. But seeing as we have no comp that style over here, I am building the vehicle almost entirely based on what I get from this forum. And the advise from some our guys who have done it before. The intention is to try and at least get to the end of the ...

37's on 15" or 17" rims?
I am running 35's on 15" rims at the moment. Want to upgrade to 37 soon and add beadlocks. Is it more adviseable to stick to the 15" rims or go up to 17". Easy to get rims for 15" but tyres a bit more difficult. Difficult to get 17" rims but tyres easier.

GQ diff spool difference
I did a search and also asked our local ARB agent the following question. Is there a difference between the spools and or shafts on the GQ diffs between the LSD and the factory locker? ARB state the same diff for the H233B, be it with the LSD or with the factory locker. A mate put a ARB into the ...

HI Joel, wooders. I assume the argument is based on a rolling sleeve type bag and not the bellows type. The rolling sleeve is much better for vehicle use anyway. If so the piston diameter relative to the bag diamter determines the spring rate and as you change the piston diameter from fully extended ...

Hi Sootygu. that is the same spring I used in the back. Also known as the 1T14C-8. The only bracket you really need, but not necessary, is a round plate on top of the bag to interface with the upper spring mount. I can send drawing if you want. on the bottom you bolt the piston the the spring perch ...

On the front they actually don't roll much. They handle better than the 2" OME I had in front. The problem with the airbags is that they loosen the back up so much that the front doesn't do any work. So I have to keep my swaybar attached so the front can work a bit as well. Am plannign on an X-link ...
