Not a hilux, I have an 86 RJ70 Bundera, when I bought it 5th gear was gone so I had the box rebuilt. The G52 is a sweet little box, but in all honesty it is really more of a slop box than a gear box. When I get around to it I will eventually fit an R150 from a diesel bundera with an adapter for the ...

3RZ-FE 2.7 liter swap in Bundy
Anybody done this swap retaining the R151F gearbox?
Is there an OEM or aftermarket bellhousing available? Something to use besides the Marks G52/W56 to R151F adapter plate.
Thanks!
JR

The turbo 4Runners in the US have a 22R-TE and automatic gearbox. The turbo HiLux (SR5) in the US had a 22R-TE and R151F gearbox with 23 splined input shaft on a gear driven Tcase. Nothing wrong with the motors, just scarce. They have forged low compression pistons, and larger combustion chambers in ...

A mate of mine has a Lux with a 22r. Can a 22re head and fuel injection system bolt straight onto his 22r block? If it can and anyone has the 22re bits can you PM me. Thanks Paul. Well if you go v6, use the 3.4 liter 5VZ-FE not the 3.0 liter 3VZ-E. The 3.4 liter is a much better engine. However to make it work with your 160 mm (6.5") long input shaft on the R150F gearbox, you'll need to use the 3.0 liter engines bellhousing. All 3.4 liter v6 Toyota truck and 4Runners in the ...

Thanks. That makes more sense. From a conversion standpoint, in an IFS HiLux which is a better swap? The 3L/5L with aftermarket turbo, or a 1KZ-T? In either event the gearbox will be a R151F. I've heard the 1KZ is a much heavier engine, even with the alloy, head whereas the 3L/5L is all cast iron ...

Simplest thing is install a 1995 22RE from a Hilux or 4Runner. Since you have a LD drive vehice, the wiring harness from a US or Euro donor vehicle is possibly a bolt in swap. Dunno the difference in the wiring loom off the 4Runner and your TLC. Is it a RJ70? Does it have the R150F/R151F gearbox? If ...

Go to this forum and search for 3RZ. Lots of info on the conversion but u can't use a R series gearbox without the Marks Adapter (R gearbox to G/W bellhousing). Guys are using the W56 gearbox mated to a W58 bellhousing. The 2WD T100 is a popular engine source. http://board.marlincrawler.com/index ...

Go to this forum and search under 3RZ-FE. The 2RZ-FE has the same block to bellhousing bolt pattern so you solve fitment issues in the same manner.

Well I know I can attach a W56 to a W58 bellhousing. I reckon to use a R151F I'd need a Dellow or Castlemaine bellhousing. I thought I'd read some of the turbo JZ engines used a R154 gearbox. Maybe it was the 1JZ-GTE.... Regardless, even if that were true and the bellhousing fits a 2JZ-GE block, the ...

To bolt the 7M-GE to your G52 use a 5M-GE or 7M-GE bellhousing (it bolts to a W58 2WD gearbox). Same bellhousing will fit the G54, and W56 gearboxes.
