Re: Custom fuel filler neck size + angles
OK - so I remounted the std dual filler necks as high and as far out to the edge of the tray as I could. (cut most of the metal cup around the filler caps off) I went to the wreckers and got another set of standard filler neck rubber hoses. I tried to get the filler necks to be as steep as possible ...

yeah - Ive rerouted the breather lines too.
but its still a case of "no love"
Im still pretty sure its the shallwo angle of the filler necks causing the problem.
Cheers.

Custom fuel filler neck size + angles

But im having HEAPS of issues getting the tanks to fill at a full flow rate. I cant even consider using a high flow diesel pump. Ive remounted the fillers ...

Re: upgrading stock patrol headlights
I had a GQ and upgraded the reflectors, globes (conventional) and put in a heavier custom loom. Made a massive difference. (unbelievable). Took half a day for 2 of us to build the loom and fit everything up. Cost < $200. My GU has pitiful low beams. And I have had issues with the factory headlight ...

Re: BFG's vs CLAWS
The Claws are another notch up again in aggressiveness from a typical muddy (eg BFG) They are far more capable in sloppy stuff. will allow you to drive thru more slush. But being more aggressive they are noisier on road, and not the best on wet ashphalt. My brother runs these - and their traction is ...

Re: rear window for ute conversion
I know its not brand loyal -- but I put a 75 series ute rear window in the back of my GU dual cab cut. Worked nicely (and I got it for the right price !) You can put a 80 series rear window in. Fits nice width wise - but you need to curve your rear wall. Ford F series windows are also another option.

Ok, if you have zero coin Yes - Zero coin !! and can weld, then you could weld some wings on the current sump Yes - I think thats my plan and make sure there is a horizontal baffle over the oil pickup. Also cut the well off the sump and extend it down and also extend the pickup. But as your racing ...

By flaps do you mean a one way trap door - to stop oil surging into the "extra side compartments" on hard cornering (keep it in the bowl) - but let oil out quickly if oil level drops away from the door (refilling the bowl) ?? Is that worth the effort ? Yeah, that is exactlly what it is for. You ...

Re: easy sump capacity upgrade
How is the oil cooler going to help me keep oil in the sump ?
Wouldnt I have to tap the block somewhere to fit that up (putting more stress on my oil system)
note - I already have a remote oil filter setup.

Im looking to enlarge the sump size on my Rover 3.5 L v8. (they have oiling issues !! - Im not solving the issue - just helping the engine !) I had exactly the same issue with my old ute's toolboxes. mucked around for ages with em. ended up with 3 small holes. (5/16) 2 in the botton at opposite ends/corners 1 in the top - drilled thru the inside back panel. Then I put a raised rubber matt across the whole bottom. This lifted all the tools ...

Light now fitted. put it about 200mm back from the windscreen. I had to pull the foam block completely out. Cut it to half height and refitted it a bit further back. pulled lining down. There is a bracket for the rv mirror base, then a gap - then a HUGE piece of foam glued to the roof. The ideal spot looks to be just on the edge of the foam block. do the gas struts push the lid open if it is unlatched? If so you would need to be careful not to trigger the latch if you were not at the ute. Remote Control (auto open) setup for dogbox / tool box
Sounds tricky - But I think it can DIY with a little advice from the gurus. I have a 2 door dog box. Mounted on the back of my ute.
