It was said that there is a tyre limit of 37" is this a maximum or a minimum size, as our truck has run in previous woodpecker events with a 42" tyre.

This will be the deciding factor if we can enter as we cant afford another set of tyres.

After reading that again I'd just like to add that this event is not just for OPEN class, other classes are welcome as long as they meet the rules!

Jamie had a few guys from our club and a couple of other clubs test driving stage 1 on Saturday, it looks like it's going to take 30 minutes to drive that one stage!

I can't give you the complete rules just yet, we are still sorting them out with the CCDA. Like I said at the start of this thread we are in a rush to get this event happening, I'll make them available ASAP.

I can now provide a few more details. The event will be held using CCDA insurance and everyone that attends will need to be a CCDA member.
Woodpecker will be open to CCDA OPEN class, and that means that you DON'T NEED REGO.

This is definitely going to happen, but there are a few more details to sort out before I can give you the specifics.
To enter you'll now need a roll cage and a winch that's a minimum of 8000lb's fitted with rope not cable. We're also asking that every competing vehicle be twin locked.

I hope to have some news for everyone by Friday.

We got DA approval today, so now we're just waiting to hear back on the insurance. I hope to be sending the entry forms out in about 4 weeks time, and I'll give everyone 2 weeks notice.

Sorry about the delay in replying, I've been away for work this week.
This will be an individual event simply because of the terrain you'll be driving on, if one member of a team got stuck the other one would never get around them, some of the gully's we'll be using like the one in the pictures are ...

I wanted to post this up just to let everyone know that we'll be looking at hosting this event on the 12th 13th and 14th of June on the same property used for last years Black Rat Challenge, 20 minutes SW of Mudgee NSW.
While we did have an event planned for this weekend we abandoned plans for it ...

Like I said last year Broadcast on FM, then people have the choice to listen or not. People could be sitting back at camp and listen if they like. You would only need a 5 watt system in that valley.

Still on the June long weekend?

It would make a good Woodpecker 2nd or 3rd stage.

A few of the guys were out at Hargraves on the weekend packing up Black Rat.
They decided to drive a few hundred metres of a track we're planning to use for an event some time in the future.

Some networks do and some don't, I'm with optus and the reception is hit and miss.

It's been quite dry out there, but they are forecasting light rain on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. At this stage it looks like it will be dry for the weekend. But your guess is as good as theirs.

I talked to Glenn Dobbin today, he informed me that this event will no longer be happening.
He's still interested in running an unregistered event in the future, so anyone interested should contact him.

How far from Hargreaves is it to Jamies place ?
For those of us that are heading over from Orange it may be quicker / easier to come across via the Macquarie River crossing & Hargreaves , rather than driving all the way around to Mudgee.

About 3 - 4 km. We'll have signs up in both ...

The gates will be open on Friday the 5th of June from 2pm till 10.30pm. And then open again at 6am on Saturday. Class verification will be held on Friday arvo and Saturday morning.

Like previous Black Rat challenges all 8 stages will be open both days but competitors will be restricted to driving 4 ...

Everyone who's sent an entry in should have been emailed a receipt, and for those that didn't supply an email address they will be posted tomorrow.
