Re: What's it worth?

Probly only much mate, no shortage of busted ones! You could probly sell some of the bits, turbo, pumps tc for a bit. Might make 500-1000 out of the peices maybe
Jump on eBay and see what they are going for would be a better indication

Re: Ls1 - opinions

I used the Holley sump. Was the lowest one I could find. Takes a ls2 filter which is easy to get to. The standard rad will be fine if it's in good nick. I have thermo fans and changed the parameters to run a lil cooler. Mine are on@95 off @92. Standard settings are on 105 off 102 or somewhere round ...

Re: Ls1 - opinions

Sorry mate, haven't been on here for a bit. The low down grunt is pretty good and mines untuned and running in open loop.. The 4l80 has a real high first gear so doesn't exactly smoke up on start! The manual obviously has a lot lower first gear. I've driven a manual here in town and was pretty ...

Re: IS there any after market suspension you'd not recommend

My dual cab was my work rig for 4 years. (Plumber) put old man emu kit thru, rated at a constant 400 kg in the back raised 2 inch, which I ended up with more? Came with sway bar ext as well, my car is sitting lil off ATM. But after the loads it's had plus towing 2.5 t digger not too bad I reckon ...

Re: Ls1 - opinions

My low range hasn't been affected at all, how do you mean? The only thing I have found is that I don't use low now, I use h4 and the convertor does all the work. Pretty mental in low but, far out! It will all do the same revs as you are doing now except instead of changing at 3500 rpm you can safely ...

Re: Ls1 - opinions

Have just fitted a ls1 and 4l80 in my dual cab after the zd30 blew up. I love it. They are pretty lazy down low, mine hasn't had a tune yet. They are around 40-60kg lighter than the zd30! I had to check it was off the hoist when I lowered it down! A duramax would have been awesome but out of my ...

Re: I want to put an auto behind my 6.5l Chev

Hi mate, what you needs is a 4l80, was standard fitment behind the 6.5td, they are basically a th400 with an overdrive. Very strong box standard. You can either run them full manual or get a standalone comp to drive it. They are big boxes, marks do a transfer kit to the transfer. I've just put a ls1 ...

Re: are 3.0l gu`s pieces of sh%#

I don't think that's the axle? They had a recall on wheel studs. Me, the 3l are just too small. Have a 2004 dual cab and the lil bugger went bang at 240k, had nads since 146k, serviced every 5 k, oil and filter. On my way to power cruise with my 1 toner in tow, miles from home. No warning egt fine ...

Re: Ls1 and 4l80 into gu help!!

Bit of an update, marks had sold me the wrong kit, they should have sold me the weld in , not bolt in. Anyhow, the new mounts rocked up, dummy fitted everything, dropped springs out and dropped it first. The transfer has ended up being 50mm out. Still need to get the tailshafts done. But it's all in ...

Re: Ls1 and 4l80 into gu help!!

Yep your on the money lux. I didn't think it would work either. I've been playing with cars for a long time so when marks told me it would all fit, I was a bit amazed. It obviously doesn't and to make things worse the genie ext I waited a month for don't fit with the engine mount setup from marks ...

Re: Ls1 and 4l80 into gu help!!

Yeah, I got it pretty cheap, my 5 speed had a worn 3-4 synchro and would have needed a freshen plus purchase of clutch and assoc bits so it seemed a cheaper way to go

Re: Ls1 and 4l80 into gu help!!

The 80 came from a mates 98 6.5td suburban, he split a bore and has gone duramax and Allison, I bought the box and conv for 500. It had been well looked after so should be a good thing, fluids nice and clean.

Re: Ls1 and 4l80 into gu help!!

Yeah it was specifically for the 4l80 on to my ZD30 transfer. I dont really want to do tailshaft mods, but the motor will have to go back where it was I think. Otherwise its going to start stuffing around with everything else.
Has no one else done this swap?
Cheers

Ls1 and 4l80 into gu help!!

Hi guys, I'm having a few dramas with the fit up and the end positions the transfer adaptor. The car was a zd30 so I used marks bolt in kit, no welding of mounts. With the whole assembly bolted in the gearbox mount is about 80-90mm out. I have cut mounts off and moved engine forward to line te mount ...
