Re: IFS

just a few comments from my experience running a supra 8 inch in the front of my surf.

100% centred diff was not an issue running a but clearance to gearbox may be an issue in an auto, I run a manual with twin hilux transfers.
The stress on the front is a hell of a lot less than a rear so worrying ...

Re: hilux surf cvs

Supralux conversion.

Same sort of effort/cost as a SAS conversion and goes everywhere the SAS boys in my club go.

Lots cheaper and easier to replace CV's though so i tend to abuse it more than the SAS boys dare ;)

Re: hilux surf cvs

2 things to check:

1. Check his steering stops.
- They get bent/snap clean off and then it the CV goes beyond the safe zone and break really easy.
- I ended up getting some rated bolts and grinding them into a steeping stop that lasts a little longer.

2. Check the droop bumpstop same thing, the ...

Hilux airlocker ratio change dramas

Just wondering if anyone can spot what our problem is, we are tearing our hair out and even the diff builder is trying to bodgy things.

we have a 4.56 V6 hilux rear diff housing with an airlocker, we got a set of standard hilux 4.88 gears (not from a V6 housing) and tried to put them in our housing ...

EFI Fuel lines - metal ones what made of?

G'day,

looking at going EFI and wondering what i need for the metal fuel lines?

Will the original Deisel metal line from the tank be fine? Are EFI metal lines any different from carby metal lines?

I know all the rubber ones on the high pressure side need to be replaced with EFI rated hose.

Personally, I've never had a CV go "pop". Just turned over 160k km, still have the same CVs that were in there when I bought it at 63k km.

Obviously, I don't break CVs because I'm not hard-core enough.

I'll have to put a Toyota front end in so I can break CVs - then I'll be hard-core. :armsup ...

I wish my IFS had an 8" diff.

If you dont need massive reduction , the chaindrive transfer already has a lower ratio than the gear driven transfer which may be sufficent.

I think the chain drive is 2.6 reduction compared to 2.1 in the gear driver (better check them though as I'm only going off memory)
