Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 Searches :(

To reduce the timing chain / lifter noise make sure you use the correct grade of oil and a genuine Suzuki oil filter......... My GV was noisy until I started using the factory filter. Nice and quiet now. Interesting to hear that. I might have to go visit the dealer and buy one.... I found Ryco are ...

Mine left about five years ago. Replaced with a Suzuki XL-7 and that has since become the wife's vehicle.

Re: Removing O2 Sensor

Just buy a new one and fit the extractors at the same time. My original sensor was "welded" into the manifold and left pieces of thread in place...... You can also buy a "plug and play" oxy sensor off the shelf. I posted the info on here ages ago- from memory it was listed as an Applause sensor?

Re: the merits of soldered vs crimped joins.

Damkia has summed it up. Crimping is better where there is vibration. As an example aircraft wiring is crimped. You'll also notice all the factory loom plugs on vehicles are crimped. I crimp for external stuff (eg. engine bay) but will solder under the dash when the wire is part of a large loom and ...

You could use something like a turbo timer to do it. ;)

Just wire it to keep power to the window circuit instead of wiring it to keep the engine running.

The ignition advance curve will be different for an Applause dissy, just keep an ear open for detonation. Or only strip out the ignitor or whatever you need.

You'll find more options in 6.5" compared to 6".

What's your budget- and are they being driven straight off a head unit or a separate amplifier?

I don't know if it would fit or not, but IMHO you'd want to swap the entire Rocky drive train into the Feroza body (ie. gearbox, transfer case, diffs etc.) Otherwise the torque from the diesel engine would quickly break things. You'd also have problems with the weight difference between the engines ...

Don't discount dirty connections or possibly a dead relay. You can perform a fuel pump test from the ECU diagnostic plug too - have a look in the workshop manual if you have it.

Nice. But you might want to see them in action before committing.

I'd imagine HID's would be a lot brighter (going by the Lumen ratings) - possibly even your current globes would be?

Try removing your spark plugs and checking the condition of them. If you're running green coolant you'll possibly find one is very clean with a slight green tinge to it.... If just water look for the "steam cleaned" plug- it will stand out.

There are LED's out there that are easily bright enough for headlights - I've got some Cree R2 flashlight modules that would easily shine far enough for a decent low beam (if you used say four in each headlight.) Oncoming motorists wouldn't like the glare, but lighting the required distance wouldn't ...

HID head lights all seem to use optics (ie, lenses) to focus the light beam (plus stuff like self leveling and high pressure headlight washers). If you simply fit an aftermarket kit into a reflector headlight you don't have any of these features. That ends up causing huge amounts of glare to ...

Wow! That's just a few years too late.

Mine had that problem when I bought it in around 2002 (when it was ten years old). The only thing is it wasn't the check valve at fault in my case- it was the plastic reservoir tank it fed into that was cracked.

So TheOtherLeft, you can fit what ever battery you want in the cab of a vehicle, just make sure you mount it in a battery box. What are the legalities of doing this? Also, if the vehicle should roll over there could be other implications if a "wet cell" is in the passenger area. Edit just found ...

Carefully feel the cabling after an extended period of use- if it's not getting warm then it should be fine. For your fuse go for a 40 Amp- it should be fine given the 30 Amp was lasting for a couple of months. ;)
