As someone said, all you're doing is fooling the ECU into over-fuelling above a certain engine load. You can trick it any number of ways for less - adding a resistance to or across the air or coolant temperature sensor will make it enrichen the mixture, that's how those "magic" cheap "tuning boxes ...

Fridgefreezer , how do you go with the Megasquirt in low ratio first just trickling/idling , and hitting the brakes. Apparently surge is common with MAF only units in this situation, and I have seen it with Motec on a club members car. The guy was driven mad by the car speeding up at obstacles. I ...

Forgot about the Aussie difference - and yes the early ones have the nasty hose barb connectors. Still not convinced you need to upgrade them on a stock engine and MAF sensed system, I have been running early 3.5 injectors on the 3.9 for ages with no trouble, although admittedly I have a proper* ECU ...

The AFMs were indeed made for lots of other vehicles, but they are a bit different. Jaguar ones may work (the AFMs and ECUS are interoperable) but it's not as simple as all that. Many people swap in Lucas/Bosch ECU's and AFMs and the vehicle will run, start, drive, etc. OK, being a MAF system they ...

Beg to differ - the injectors are the same from 3.5 to 4.6. Also one of the few advantages of Rover's mass-airflow system is that it will adjust to the larger engine size without too much drama. If it has Lambda sensors you're even better off as it will "learn" and hopefully sort itself out. Worth ...

You can "recondition" the Lucarse AFM's by popping the top and gently bending the wipers in a bit on the carbon tracks (you'll see what I mean when you're in there). Over the years the wiper wears a groove in the carbon, eventually it goes right through. If you bend the arm so it's wiping a fresh ...

Go to the scrapyard and search out a newer truck or car with at least the same power output as your vehicle, and have the filter + housing off of that. That way you can gain a nice big filter and for those of us who started with oil baths, we can actually get a bit of decent filtration. My current ...

If yours is a petrol vehicle it'll probably take it's rev counter feed from the coil not the alt, so it won't matter. Have a look - if you have a wire going to the "W" terminal then it uses the alt, if not it uses the coil.

Try ringing RPi , Lund Engines , or Real Steel , they all know their stuff and are usually happy to give out advice. The 4.6 blocks have added strength - cross-bolted mains, larger journal crank. Converting a 3.5 to 4.6 would end up with a weaker engine. See http://www.v8engines.com for the tech specs of the various blocks & what combinations can be done.
