Or a controlled clutch type thing that disables the drive shaft/transfer case/gear box (disconnects it.),

They could start it but couldn’t move it.

Thanks for the tips guys. I gave up pumping the primer after about 60 pumps as it wasn't getting any harder, although it did make it easier to start cold .. I think the primer must have a leak in it.

Will try and pick up one of those replacement CAV systems with a glass bowl. Does anyone know of ...

Keep pumping it untill you cannot do it anymore, It should become that firm its to hard to pump it. and it should stay hard.

If you can press it down too easily you have an air leak or a broken pump letting air in.

Even when I replace the fuel filter it doesn't take any longer to start the car ...

It might not be just Fuel gunk, It could be rust from the fuel tank.
If sitting for a while with a little water in the tank it could rust.

Bio will get rid of the rust over time two.
Others have put a cheeper prefilter to improve the life of the standard filter untill the BIO gets rid of the crap ...

Righto, had a look at it today and overall it seems quite good. The only problem (so far) is that it uses oil. The guy reckons it uses about 1/2 a litre every 4K, is that just due to a worn motor or do lux's tend to eat a bit iof oil?
