Your experiences with the 2.8 versus 2.5 TDi's...?

After driving OlBetsy for two years now, I'm lovin the diesel, and its working good. But we are thinking about a bigger trailer (caravan?) and the little 2500cc oil burner is not gonna cut it. Need moorrrrreee powerrrrrr.... We never got either diesel here, so I only have experience with mine that I ...

There are two belts: timing belt, plus balance belt... while you're in there, I'd do tensioners (2) and check those oil seals for leakage. Water pump would also be a good idea, as well as accessory belts. Cost me about $400 for the parts, but I did it myself. And my money is different from yours ...

Phil, you will need the input gear. This is the gear that mates to the output shaft on your transmission. The auto input gear is 23 spline and about 5mm longer than the manual 24 spline version. I'll check with Mark to see if he has any input gears lying around and let you know. We could do a ...

The gears Doug removed all those months ago are still not installed in a rig, and I got to thinking.... if my buddy is not gonna put em in my old rig, wonder if I would buy them off him and put em in my lil oil burner.... but if I am to understand, Dougie's t-case gears ...

One more thing to think about, re: stick vs auto: My 5sp with 33s and 4.88 diffs runs about 3050rpm at 110kmh, whereas I'm told the auto on 31s does it a little lower. If you do a lot of highway, this could be a factor for you, since you want the rpms lower if possible... But I would def hold out ...

Here's something else to consider, given that you are in Canada: In Canada we never ever got the 2.5tdi in any rig that was imported. Whereas the 3.0v6 was in plenty of Dodges, in various configurations (Mitsu never actually got officially imported into Canada till 2003). Having said that, I had ...

Introducing - Old Betsy IV

Had her for a few weeks now. Likin' the diesel so far, pulls our trailer up hills in 5th that my tired old V6 woulda been down to 3rd on. And this is with 33s! So far I've put 33s on it, Safari snorkel, improved the tunes, put a CB in the second DIN slot, and of course yarded off the running boards ...
