However, traybacks have the tank in front of the rear axle. A utility (which normally implies a styleside) has exactly the same tank as a swb.

Steve,
Many thanks ... sounds like I have a 'styleside'. The tank is mounted central between the chassis rails and behind the rear axle.

Sounds ...

Sierra fuel tanks

Guys,
Does the Sierra utility (1986) use a different fuel tank to the Sierra SWB?

Getting conflicting view points from various wreckers.

Utilities tank is rusted out and I need a replacement.

Anything aftermarket that's reasonably priced and a straight bolt in?

Okay, finally a resolution.
Rang again and spoke to a lovely lady. She was stumped by the 4wd club thing and asked a supervisor. They verified the policy. I said what about if I'm in the RACV, will that void my policy. So she asked another supervisor who said no it wont and a 4wd club is fine as ...

Guys,
With AAMI I specifically stated that I would not be competing with the vehicle in any way, shape or form. Answer was the same... join a 4WD club voids your policy. That was from the supervisor supposedly.
Checking it out further this afternoon.

bogged,
Reason given was that AAMI is a "domestic vehicle insurer", whatever that means. I was told that an accident arising from driving on private property is not covered. Also seems joining any car club voids your policy with AAMI and that's not "eventing" it either...join a club... no insurance ...

4wd Insurance?

Guys,
Was just told by AAMI that joining a 4wd club would void my insurance policy on the Suzuki. So... I have 14 days to find someone better or do I just never tell them when I join? They also seemed dodgy on what constitutes a "road"...enough to get me thinking they'll take my money and we'll end ...

The new Zook has a Lock-Rite in the back, so this is for the auto-lockers. First impression was that its ... clunk clunk clunk... going around corners if you back off in the corner and coast about. Clunking is accompanied by some mild lurching that pushes you towards the outside of the round-about ...

Anyone have experience with the Motorway retreads in Mud-terrain pattern? Interested in putting a set on a Zook as I'm operating on a very limited budget. Looking to fit 30x9.5x15s.

I no longer have a Lada as it was written off... but they're generally not worth restoring as you dont get much for them. Not bad in the bush though for a cheap 4WD, but not as capable as a Sierra, primarily because the Lada is harder to modify. Still, they are capable.
