You should only pay about $350 for the kit.
I only do the complete kit every 2nd time.
and only the belt in-between, unless there is a problem.
Look at how many K and when it was last done.
if unknown, do it complete.

Sounds like you have the 200 TDi motor, They had the better timming belt, the 300 TDi had all the problems. 1995 on. about $350 for the kit. every 80k for me If you do the timing belt look at the water pump at the same time. more LR info on this site www.aulro.com http://www.aulro.com/afvb/australia ...

would be best to make the sliders to bolt around the chassis much stronger, better protction & easier to remove what happens if you lnad real hard on the sliders that are bolted to the sills? the sills bend under the pressure rendering the sliders useless imho makes them about as useful as alloy ...

The TDI engine oils has a cooler in the radiator, just like on a auto.
had to work it out the first time I sore it on my 5 speed manual.
you can put your engine oils through a (trany) type cooler, but these is the risk of more oil lines braking

I put in a 140lt Brown Davis in my 98 TDI 5dr. need to remove sender via cargo area. need to get longer filler. ( the old plastic was longer then the new metal on the tank)just cut mine in half ( over chassis) and inserted a pice of exhaust pipe. A little fidlly to put the tank up to old mounting ...
