Re: Troopy gearbox swap?

He is considering a new one, however a new one will still be a weak box, he needs stronger hence looking at other options. Being I will probably be the sucker to install it, I need to know what I can fit, with the least amount of grief. Will the H55f bolt in, ie did the Hzj75 and Hzj78 have same ...

Troopy gearbox swap?

A friend's coily troopy (Hzj78?) has had the gearbox die for the third time, he is quite over it. It has no drive in any gear, accompanied by loud grinding clunking noise. The truck has an everyday weight of nearly 4 tonnes as measured on the dump weighbridge, it is his work vehicle, self employed ...

205/70/15 tyres = 669mm

as of jan this year an increase in tyre size went from +15mm, to +50 mm, in qld.

so, you can fit anything up to 719 mm.

pick up a few tyre brochures, most have mm measurements, find one as close to 719 mm.

350-400 from my 2001 soft top auto (series II, dual airbags, G13B motor), around town, depending on how i treat the throttle.

480 at engine konking out on side of highway, followed by emptying contents of jerry can into fuel tank, and continuing to nearest petrol station.

hyperthetically, what options are feasible, to replace the standard 2.4 petrol 8 valver in the Y front L300?? strangely fuel economy would be the goal. the idea being, if the replacement was alot stronger, it wouldn't work so hard and/or drink so much. there is the factor of the vehicle's ...

good responses, good info.

now, in return to aw4 g'box, is it likely the stock jimny auto can handle 25% power increase, and 30% more torque??

it's a tiny auto, other than over-heating, is it a good box??
